JOB TITLE: Registered Nurse
DEPARTMENT: Nursing/SFP
JOB RELATIONSHIPS:
Responsible to: Clinic Manager/Nursing Supervisor
Responsible for: Not responsible for anyone
Interrelationships: Works cooperatively with all hospital
Departments and the Medical Staff.
JOB SUMMARY:
Interview patients prior to provider seeing them and assist provider as needed.
Schedule appointments with specialists/other facilities and ancillary departments as
needed. Handle phone calls and patient requests timely. This position will provide
quality improvement activities as necessary and or as directed. These activities may
include data analysis, data collection, and quality improvement.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience: Previous clinical experience preferred but not required
Skills: Bilingual abilities a plus
Education: Graduate of an accredited program for Registered Nurse
Req. Cert./ Current RN licensure in the state where employed, CPR
Registration: certification

- Maintain composure when dealing with a stressful situation involving a patient, or other customer.
- Maintain strict confidentiality in all aspects of job performance.
- Have a good working knowledge of Seneca Family Practice regulations and manual.
- Provides quality customer service indicating a genuine willingness to meet others’ needs in a timely and thorough manner.
- Arrange for referrals to other physicians/specialists and relate said information to patient (other)
- Assist physician or midlevel provider during treatments, examinations, and procedures, i.e. suture removal, pelvic exam as needed.
- Demonstrate compliance with policies and procedures.
- Maintain exam rooms before and after patients to ensure that area is clean.
- Obtain information from the patient and vital signs and document accurately as to the history of the present illness or health concerns.
- Accurate and thorough documentation.
- Perform special treatment/procedures, under the direction and written order of the physician, such as injections.
- Safely administer medications as ordered by the provider and maintain proper drug controls.
- Adjust physicians schedule as needed.
- Review operative reports and contact patients with pathology results and recommendations following physician’s procedures.
- Return calls as well as handle incoming calls from patients, pharmacies, nursing homes, hospitals, home health agencies, etc.
- Telephone triage medical care.
- Critical value reports
- Schedule patients for any ancillary services or procedures.
- Get specialist on the phone for physician to physician consults.
- Refill medications per policy
- Attend monthly nursing/office meetings.
- Able to perform all required lab tests within the rural health clinic.
- Perform lab proficiency testing.
- Give vaccines and allergy shots as needed when vaccine nurse absent.
- Room patients, intake form, room turnover.
