Urology of Virginia is seeking an experienced Histotechnologist (HT or HTL) to join our in-house Surgical Pathology Laboratory in Virginia Beach. Our lab supports a busy, specialized urology practice, delivering high-quality, timely diagnostic results that directly impact patient care.

This position is full-time hours with a consistent Monday thru Friday daytime schedule and full-time benefits.
General Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform grossing, embedding, microtomy and staining (H&E and IHC) of surgical tissue specimens and prepare and label cassettes and slides, according to the Pathology Lab Procedure
- Maintain and troubleshoot lab instruments and equipment and documentation of preventative maintenance (PM)
- Ensure specimen integrity and accurate labeling while maintaining documentation of all quality control required and quality assurance performed
- Ability to work independently and manage your workload efficiently while collaborating closely with our pathologist and pathology lab staff to meet turnaround times
- Back up for accessioning surgical specimens
- Perform all duties according to CLIA, OSHA and HIPAA regulations and participate in policy and procedure review
Requirements
Minimum Education:
- Completion of a NAACLS accredited Histologic Technician program
- HT certification (ASCP or other U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services (HHS) approved certifying agency)
- BS w/ HTL certification is a plus
Minimum Experience:
- 3 years of histopathology (surgical pathology preferred)
- 1 year of IHC experience
Looking For:
- Strong microtomy skills, attention to detail with commitment to quality, accuracy, and patient care
- Ability to work independently and manage workload efficiently
- Good verbal, written communication and computer skills. Experience with EMR and LIS Data entry and accessioning is a plus
- Knowledge/experience with CLIA or CAP certification & protocol writing a plus
