The Health Club Lead is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Health Club during assigned shifts, ensuring a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for all members, guests, and employees. This role serves as the on-site leader, balancing elevated guest service with consistent enforcement of policies and operational standards. The Health Club Lead also supports membership growth through renewals and guest engagement.
- Independently open and close the Health Club in accordance with established SOPs
- Serve as the primary on-site point of contact for all guests and members during assigned shifts
- Enforce all Health Club policies, including:
- Membership and access guidelines
- Liability waiver requirements
- Guest pass policies and restrictions
- Conduct hourly facility walk-throughs to ensure:
- Equipment sanitation and cleanliness
- Organization and presentation of all spaces
- Replenishment of towels and amenities
- Address guest concerns and service recovery situations appropriately.
- Complete detailed and accurate shift reports and logs.
- Train, mentor, and coach part-time attendants on SOPs, guest engagement, and compliance.
- Ensure consistency of operations between shifts, maintaining alignment across AM and PM coverage.
- Support onboarding and continuous training efforts for Health Club staff.
- Proactively support membership renewals prior to expiration.
- Identify opportunities to convert day-pass users into longer-term memberships.
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Minimum of 1–2 years of experience in hospitality, wellness, fitness, or guest service environments preferred
- Previous experience in a leadership or supervisory role preferred
- Experience with membership-based or wellness facilities is a plus
- Strong interpersonal and guest service skills with a professional demeanor
- Ability to confidently enforce policies while maintaining a positive guest experience
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and presentation standards
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in a single-coverage environment
- Basic computer skills and ability to learn property management or membership systems
- Flexibility to work varied schedules, including weekends, holidays, and early mornings/evenings
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time
- Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 30 pounds (towels, supplies, light equipment)
- Frequent bending, reaching, and movement throughout the facility
- Ability to perform cleaning and sanitization tasks regularly
- Indoor wellness and fitness facility environment, including gym and locker room spaces
- Regular exposure to outdoor elements, including servicing the outdoor pool, hot tub, and sauna, requiring work outside in all weather conditions year-round (snow, cold temperatures, heat, etc.)
- Exposure to cleaning products and fitness equipment
- Moderate noise level typical of a gym or recreational setting
- Independent work environment during certain shifts with full responsibility for operations
