Special Requirements: Must be available as a primary on-call resource; must be available for after-hours, weekend, and emergency response; must be 21 years of age or older; ability to regularly travel to all agency sites when appropriate; must complete and maintain the required registry clearance and criminal fingerprint background checks; maintain First aid & CPR certification; must have a valid driver’s license and proof of vehicle liability insurance; must obtain and maintain CPR/First Aid Instructor, QPR or Mental Health First Aid certifications.
Enterprise Safety & Risk Leadership
- Lead the development and implementation of the agency-wide risk management and safety strategy
- Ensure compliance with CARF, IDHS, and other regulatory standards
- Collaborate with Human Resources to develop, maintain, and execute the agency’s risk management plan, including assigned components
- Training & Workforce Development
- Develop and deliver agency-wide safety trainings, including:
- CPR/First Aid (as certified instructor)
- Workplace violence prevention
- QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer) or Mental Health First Aid
- Create and maintain training materials and curriculum using strong computer and presentation skills
- Track and ensure compliance with all required staff certifications
- Emergency Preparedness, Disaster Planning & Recovery
- Lead disaster planning and recovery efforts across all locations
- Oversee emergency response plans and coordinate agency-wide drills
- Ensure continuity of operations planning (COOP) is established and functional
- Conduct after-action reviews, debriefings, and implement improvements
- Internal Investigations & Incident Oversight
- Lead and document internal investigations
- Ensure compliance with OIG reporting requirements and timelines
- Provide guidance to leadership on incident response and corrective actions
- Security Systems & Risk Prevention
- Oversee security cameras, surveillance systems, and access controls
- Identify risks and implement preventative safety strategies
- Facility & Fleet Safety Collaboration
- Partner with the Director of Facilities & Fleet Operations to ensure:
- AED readiness and compliance
- Fire marshal and life safety compliance
- Smoke detectors, alarms, and suppression systems
- Locks, access control, and surveillance systems
- Emergency Response & Leadership Support
- Serve as on-call support for leadership during emergencies
- Provide real-time consultation and direction during high-risk situations
