Position Summary


As a Prep Cook at The Salt Shed, you will support the culinary team in a high-volume concessions environment, helping prepare food across multiple stand-style concepts. This role plays an important part in keeping kitchen operations running smoothly through consistent, efficient, and well-organized prep. 


This is a seasonal, part-time role starting immediately through early October, with up to 30 hours per week and a schedule that may fluctuate based on business needs. 


Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to: 

  • Prepare food for a high-volume concessions operation across multiple stand-style concepts, following prescribed recipes and standards
  • Set up and break down prep areas, including opening and closing duties as assigned
  • Ensure all food items are prepped, labeled, stored, and rotated properly
  • Maintain a consistent pace of production to support service needs
  • Follow direction from the Chef, Culinary Director, and Prep Supervisor to execute daily prep lists
  • Keep workstations clean, organized, and stocked throughout shifts
  • Maintain proper food storage, handling, and sanitation practices at all times
  • Ensure compliance with all health department and food safety guidelines
  • Assist with inventory organization and restocking as needed
  • Support the kitchen team with additional tasks as the operation evolves 

Requirements

About You: 

  • 1+ years of prep cook or kitchen experience in a high-volume environment preferred
  • Ability to follow direction and execute recipes consistently and accurately
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced kitchen with a focus on efficiency and organization
  • Strong attention to cleanliness, sanitation, and proper food storage practices
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to stay on task throughout a full shift
  • Team-oriented with a willingness to jump in and support where needed
  • Ability to maintain a clean and organized workspace at all times
  • Flexible availability based on kitchen needs, including evening prep hours
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and lift up to 25–50 lbs using proper techniques 
  • Comfortable working in a warm, fast-paced kitchen environment with exposure to water, steam, cleaning chemicals, high noise levels, and common food allergens

Position Details & Benefits:

  • Job Type: Part-time, Seasonal, Hourly
  • Compensation: $20/hour 
  • Seasonal dates: Immediate start through early October
  • Schedule: Up to 30 hours per week, with hours fluctuating based on business needs
