Position Purpose
The Maintenance and Building Technician will manage the ongoing efficient operation, maintenance, and preventative maintenance of TAPCO’s facilities and property to ensure a high standard of service that meets the needs of employees and the TAPCO’s mission. Supports management and execution of capital projects and vendor engagement.
The starting position and rate of pay are based on the candidates’ experience, qualifications, and education.

Position Responsibilities
- Maintain and repair building systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire/life safety, and security infrastructure
- Ensure continuous operation of mission-critical systems (power, backup generators, UPS systems, data rooms)
- Perform routine inspections to ensure compliance with banking regulations, safety standards, and internal policies
- Support business continuity and disaster recovery plans by maintaining facility readiness
- Monitor and maintain physical security systems (access control, alarms, surveillance infrastructure)
- Coordinate and supervise third-party vendors and contractors, ensuring adherence to security protocols
- Respond rapidly to emergency issues that could impact operations, security, or member access
- Maintain detailed maintenance logs and compliance documentation for audits and inspections
- Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and cost control for facility operations
- Identify and implement energy-efficient and cost-saving improvements
- Mentor junior technicians and enforce best practices in safety and compliance
- Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on building systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, lighting, and security systems
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests from staff and management
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and structural issues
- Monitor building security systems and report any safety concerns immediately
- Assist with emergency response situations, including power outages or system failures
- Support renovations, office reconfigurations, and branch upgrades
- Serve as the Facilities primary point of contact for facilities and buildings-related operations and support services, including instructional equipment repairs, building space planning, and office furniture design and installation, coordinating project activities to minimize impact to departments and programs
- Serve as a member of the inclement weather team recommending early morning branch closure status to credit union leadership
- Serve as essential personnel during emergency situations and inclement weather
- Oversee health and safety aspects including developing and maintaining processes and standards, accurate record keeping, ensuring health and safety related equipment (such as fire alarms/suppression, fire extinguishers, elevators) is inspected and maintained to standards, conduct/coordinate health and safety related drills and trainings
- Provide facilities leadership in the absence of the Chief Information Officer
- Utilize Computerized Maintenance Management Systems containing work orders, assets, preventative maintenance, data reporting, and other functions
- Administer, and utilize credit union facilities administrative systems, including key card access control (proxy system) and building management systems to support secure, efficient, and compliant branch operations
- Support programs for energy conservation, utility management, health and safety, and disaster preparedness
- Participates in credit union-wide meetings, committees, and functions to support institutional initiatives
- Contribute to creating a safe, professional, and bias-free working environment, which engenders respect for differences and encourages inclusion while promoting teamwork and organizational values

Requirements
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED (technical or trade certification preferred)
- 3-5 years of experience in facilities maintenance, preferably in a regulated environment (banking, healthcare, data centers)
- Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical systems, and building infrastructure
- Experience working with critical systems (generators, UPS, server room cooling)
- Ability to pass background checks required for financial institutions
- Familiarity with safety regulations and compliance standards
- Ability to read blueprints and technical manuals
- Basic computer skills for work order systems and reporting
- Valid driver’s license (if travel between branches is required)
- Experience with regulatory compliance, building codes, safety standards, and environmental regulations.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Position Working Conditions
- The work environment is an office setting
- Movements frequently and regularly require using the wrists, hands, and/or fingers
- Frequently required to bend, stoop and maneuver in limited spaces
- Travel to branch and vendor sites may be required – must have valid driver’s license and vehicle
- May need to lift 50 pounds frequently
- May need to respond to critical or emergencies outside of regular working hours
90-day Introductory Period
All newly hired employees at TAPCO Credit Union are subject to a 90-day introductory period beginning on their first day of employment. This period is intended to provide structure, clarity, coaching, and support while employees learn their role and the organization. Completion of the introductory period does not guarantee continued employment or change the at-will employment relationship.
Salary:
Starting rate of $34.41 - $38.00 per hour (depending on experience)
