IP Paralegal

Description
If you’re an experienced legal support professional tired of just “keeping up”—this is your chance to take ownership.
Most roles ask you to execute.
This one asks you to own, improve, and lead how legal work gets done.
At Hylton-Rodic Law, you won’t just support the system—you’ll help build it.
What This Role Actually Does
You will operate as the central operator of our legal support function:
- Own intake, docketing, and legal workflow execution
- Support and coordinate patent filings and matter management
- Work directly with attorneys and clients on execution-level communication
- Oversee and guide legal assistant workflows
- Identify gaps and improve how work gets tracked and completed
This is a hands-on role with real ownership.
What You’ll Be Measured On
- Workflow reliability ? nothing slips, nothing gets lost
- Accuracy ? zero missed deadlines, strong attention to detail
- Team leverage ? legal assistants are aligned and effective
- System improvement ? workflows become clearer and more efficient
- Leadership impact ? reduced need for CEO/Ops oversight
What Success Looks Like
By 30 days:
You’re executing work and understanding current workflows
By 60 days:
You’re owning workflows and beginning to improve them
By 90 days:
You are acting as the bridge between legal, ops, and assistants, reducing friction in how work gets done, providing structure and visibility across the team
This Role Is NOT For You If:
- You prefer to just complete assigned tasks
- You’ve never taken ownership of workflows or processes
- You avoid addressing issues with teammates
- You wait for direction instead of solving problems
- You are uncomfortable in evolving, growing environments
Requirements
Required Background
- 2–5 years of legal support experience (IP/patent experience strongly preferred)

- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Experience working with or supporting legal teams
The Kind of Person Who Thrives Here
- Operator mindset—you fix things, not just flag them
- Highly organized and detail-oriented
- Strong communicator (clear, proactive, professional)
- Comfortable taking ownership and responsibility
- Interested in growing into leadership
