Simulation Technician
The Simulation Technician at Westcliff University’s College of Nursing (CON) in Corona, CA is a full-time role
responsible for providing technical and operational support for simulation-based education. The position oversees the
setup, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of high-fidelity simulators, task trainers, and audiovisual systems,
while ensuring accurate data capture and system functionality. The Simulation Technician prepares simulation
environments, supports faculty during simulation activities, and enhances realism through techniques such as moulage.
This role ensures simulation experiences are safe, effective, and aligned with educational objectives, serving as a key
link between technical operations and clinical instruction. The position reports to the Manager of Simulated Learning.
Essential Job Functions
- Operate, program, and maintain simulation equipment, including high- and low-fidelity simulators, task trainers, and audiovisual systems.
- Configure and execute simulation scenarios in alignment with faculty objectives.
- Prepare, stage, and reset simulation environments, including moulage and equipment setup.
- Provide real-time technical support and troubleshoot hardware, software, and connectivity issues.
- Perform preventative maintenance, system updates, and minor repairs; coordinate vendor servicing as needed.
- Manage audiovisual systems, ensuring accurate recording, storage, and retrieval of simulation sessions.
- Maintain inventory, equipment logs, and maintenance records.
- Ensure simulation spaces are organized, safe, and compliant with institutional and regulatory standards.
- Support and train faculty, staff, and students in the use of simulation equipment and technology.
- Collaborate with IT and vendors to maintain system functionality and resolve technical issues.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance simulation operations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum requirements to be considered for this position:
- Associate degree or higher in healthcare, information technology, biomedical equipment technology, audiovisual technology, or a related field. or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 2–4 years of relevant experience working Previous experience in healthcare simulation, clinical environments, audiovisual support, IT support, or technical operations preferred.
- Experience with simulation platforms (e.g., Laerdal, Gaumard, CAE) and learning technologies.
- Basic knowledge of networking, troubleshooting, and multimedia systems.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Preferred qualifications for this position:
- Bachelor (BS/BA) in healthcare, information technology, biomedical equipment technology, audiovisual technology, or a related field. or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Certified Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist (CHSOS) or willingness to obtain certification.
- Experience in a nursing or healthcare education environment.
- Proficiency with learning management systems (LMS) and simulation capture systems (e.g., SimCapture).
- Experience supporting accreditation or regulatory requirements (e.g., BRN, CCNE).
- Advanced troubleshooting skills with high-fidelity manikins and integrated AV systems.
