Job Summary:
The Recreation Equipment Mechanic is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and monitoring cycling and adaptive recreation equipment throughout the summer season. This position implements and supports safety and risk management protocols while maintaining accurate maintenance documentation and ensuring equipment is properly inventoried, adjusted, and repaired. The role works closely with the Program Equipment Senior Manager to communicate equipment needs and assist with maintenance across additional summer programs as needed, including post-season repairs.
This is a part-time seasonal position that requires a flexible schedule based on operational needs, including weekends, occasional evenings, and occasional holidays. This position is not eligible for remote work.
Essential Duties:
- Implement and supervise safety/risk management protocols in a caring and fun environment for participants, volunteers, and staff.
- Maintain and repair all cycling equipment.
- Inventory and review equipment weekly for missing, damaged, or mal-adjusted equipment.
- Review equipment repair forms daily and perform appropriate repairs.
- Communicate equipment needs or concerns with the Program Equipment Senior Manager.
- Assist Equipment team in maintenance and repairs in all other summer programs when needed.
- Complete post-season equipment repairs.
- Create a nurturing, positive, and professional environment while promoting program policies and procedures amongst staff, volunteers, and community.
- Communicate clearly, honestly, and respectfully with all staff, participants, parents, and volunteers.
- Assist Program staff as needed.
- Be a positive representative and promoter of NAC programs, events, and activities in our community.
- Document equipment maintenance and repairs in completed maintenance binder.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
- 2 years of experience working with Recreation Equipment.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment background check.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States. We do not sponsor employment visas or other immigration processes to attain or maintain employment eligibility.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proficiency with Salesforce or similar CRM systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience working in a multi-department, service-oriented environment with integrated systems and data-driven decision-making.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Demonstrated commitment to exceptional customer service and ability to engage effectively with diverse populations.
- Knowledge of bicycle and adaptive recreation equipment maintenance, repair, and safety procedures.
- Experience with various tools and machinery.
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting and preventative maintenance skills.
- Ability to inspect, diagnose, adjust, and repair equipment efficiently and accurately.
- Ability to maintain organized maintenance records, inventories, and repair documentation.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with staff, volunteers, participants, and families.
- Demonstrated history of responsibility, dependability, and maturity.
- Ability to be flexible, creative, and adaptable to situations.

Working Conditions:
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors while supporting recreation program activities in various weather conditions, including extreme weather conditions.
- Ability to consistently lift, carry, and load adaptive and other sports equipment that may weigh 50 or more pounds.
- Flexible schedule to work weekends and/or holidays when needed.
