POSITION TITLE: Agency Trainer and Wellness Coordinator

FLSA CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt

REPORTS TO: Human Resource Director

POSITIONS SUPERVISED: NA


POSITION OVERVIEW: The Trainer/Wellness Coordinator is responsible for researching, planning, and conducting training programs needed to meet regulatory standards and facilitate job readiness for new employees. The Trainer will collaborate with program staff to ensure competencies are achieved. In addition, this employee will implement and facilitate an agency wellness program.


ESSENTIAL POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Research, plan, organize, and conduct new employee orientation including core training necessary to meet CARF, KDADS and agency standards.
  2. Confer with HR Director, management, supervisors, and employees to gain knowledge of work situations requiring training and to better understand changes in policies, procedures, and initiatives.
  3. Create an organization-wide training program and schedule.
  4. Coordinate training and department specific training schedules, ensuring provision of the following trainings at new-hire and annually: CPR, First Aid, CPI/Safety, Motivational Interviewing and utilization of the agency Electronic Health Record (EHR), and other role-specific trainings, as needed.
  5. Write content for new training programs; reviews, evaluates, and modifies existing and proposed programs at the direction of supervisor.
  6. Maintains training database on all employees, report deficiencies monthly.
  7. Provide for ongoing training for employees individually, as needed, working with the department supervisors to identify specific needs.
  8. Design and implement an agency wellness program, including specific monthly initiatives to improve employee well-being and promote wellness
  9. Collaborate with agency stakeholders, including the employee club, safety committee and education committee to coordinate wellness initiatives
  10. Promote healthy lifestyles and wellness initiatives: develop and implement programs focused on promoting healthy lifestyles, stress management, and disease prevention. This includes designing educational resources, coordinating wellness workshops, and supporting employees in adopting practices that enhance their overall well-being.
  11. Provide education and training on overall wellness, including facilitating fitness assessments and maintaining any wellness equipment.


Requirements

OTHER POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

Operate in compliance with personnel policies and practices, maintain strict level of confidentiality.

Promote the mission and values of Mental Health America of South Central Kansas.

Attend MHA and department staff meetings and training as required.

Complete required timesheets, mileage sheets, expense sheets and other agency-required paperwork accurately and on-time.

Maintain effective and professional verbal and written interactions with peers, customers, supervisors, and other staff. Use diplomacy and tact in dealing with difficult situations or people. 

Work well with a team, keeps others informed of information needed. Treat others with respect, maintaining a spirit of cooperation.

Demonstrate the ability and willingness to handle new assignments, changes in procedures and business needs. Identify what needs to be done and take appropriate action.   

Complete assigned work, meet deadlines without reminders/follow-up from supervisor or others.  


POSITION REQUIREMENTS: BS in HR, Communications, Social Services or related field preferred. May substitute equivalent post high school education and experience combined. Must have demonstrated experience in training/presentation and learning management systems. Preferred areas of experience include prior training design or classroom design experience, prior experience working in the mental health field, or prior experience in a community mental health setting, experience with wellness and well-being initiatives. Effective communication skills, both oral and written and the ability to develop and maintain rapport with consumers, stakeholders, and staff is required. Effective time-management skills and strong organizational tracking and reporting skills are required.
