About The Company
Dosher Memorial Hospital, a Critical Access community hospital with 25 licensed acute (inpatient) beds and 64 licensed skilled nursing center beds. Approximately one mile from the Cape Fear, the hospital is located in the coastal historic town of Southport, N.C. in Brunswick County. The hospital is overseen by a publicly-elected Board of Trustees and generously supported by a volunteer force of nearly 200, making Dosher Hospital unique in the state of North Carolina. We serve the areas of Southport, St. James, Oak Island, Caswell Beach, Boiling Spring Lakes, Bolivia, Holden Beach, Calabash, Wilmington, Bald Head Island, and Brunswick County.
About the Role

Description

Full-Time; Day Shift Position: $10,000 sign-on bonus for full time day shift. Competitive 2nd and 3rd shift differentials.


Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates the nursing care of all patients in the Patient Care Unit. Responsible for ensuring safe and efficient care by providing direct hands-on care and supervising the care given by PCTs and supportive staff members. Participates in patient and family education, coordinates care planning with other members of the interdisciplinary team, anticipates discharge needs and participates in active discharge planning, maintains their role as a patient advocate with a focus on the hospital’s mission, demonstrates ethical and appropriate behavior, adherence to all policies and procedures, maintains all educational requirements, and follows the Nurse Practice Act.


Functions of the Position (not an exhaustive list):

  • Keep all required education/certifications up to date
  • Demonstrate teamwork, peer-to-peer accountability, independent problem solving, critical thinking, time management, and appropriate clinical prioritization
  • Document and practice according to facility policy, meeting current documentation standards, metric, and quality expectations as detailed by department manager in the delivery of quality care
  • Elevate concerns to charge nurse or nurse manager as appropriate, reporting problems through the chain of command

Requirements

Education:

  • Graduate of an approved school of nursing
  • Current/unencumbered Registered Nurse license in the State of North Carolina or another compact state
  • BLS/ CPR certification required
  • All education/certification requirements are kept up to date as a responsibility of the employee

Necessary Skills:

  • At least 2 years of nursing experience in the acute care/inpatient hospital setting
  • Must complete the required education for the Hip & Knee Replacement (HKRPC) as required per policy
