Position Summary
The Varsity Head Golf Coach is a seasonal position responsible for the direction, instruction, and culture of the girls' golf program. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, mentorship, and administrative precision, specifically tailored to the high-standard environment of a Cleveland-area independent school. The Coach is tasked with developing student-athletes into competitive golfers while fostering an environment that emphasizes the school’s core values—integrity, leadership, and sportsmanship.
Requirements
- Swing Mechanics: Providing advanced instruction on full swing, short game, putting, and bunker play.
- Course Management: Teaching players how to "read" a course, choose the right clubs based on yardage, and manage risk vs. reward during a round.
- Mental Performance: Developing strategies for focus, resilience after a bad hole, and maintaining composure under tournament pressure.
- Rules & Etiquette: Ensuring all players have a deep understanding of USGA and OHSAA golf rules and maintain the highest standards of sportsmanship on the course.
- Scheduling: Coordinating practice times at local Cleveland courses (e.g., Sleepy Hollow, Mayfield, or Acacia) and scheduling matches and invitational tournaments.
- Transportation & Logistics: Managing team travel, ensuring equipment (bags, uniforms, range finders) is ordered and maintained.
- Communication: Maintaining a consistent flow of information to parents via apps (like TeamSnap or FinalForms) and emails.
- College Recruiting: Assisting high-performing athletes with the recruitment process, including communicating with college coaches and helping build player profiles.
- Values Integration: Aligning the golf program with the school’s specific mission (e.g., "empowering young women" or "leadership through integrity")
