Description

GXM Technologies is seeking an experienced Financial Modeling and Capital Markets Associate to support a high-priority federal investment and financial analysis program focused on emerging technologies, strategic capital initiatives, and advanced financial decision support. This role requires deep expertise in financial modeling, valuation analysis, capital markets, and data-driven forecasting, combined with the ability to participate in analytical efforts, and collaborate across government and industry stakeholders in a fast-paced, high-visibility environment. This position is fully on-site, five days per week, in the National Capital Region (NCR).

Key Responsibilities

  • Part of the development, execution, and refinement of complex financial models, including integrated operating models, scenario analyses, forecasting tools, and valuation frameworks.
  • Analyze investment funds, portfolio companies, and capital strategies across a range of alternative investment structures and public-private funding models.
  • Conduct advanced financial analyses including sensitivity analysis, stress testing, attribution analysis, and risk assessment to support strategic decision-making.
  • Evaluate financial and operational data to identify trends, economic drivers, and performance insights relevant to emerging technologies and national security priorities.
  • Guide and support the intake, vetting, and pipeline review processes for potential investment opportunities, ensuring analytical rigor, transparency, and traceability of decision inputs.
  • Develop investment memorandums, executive-level briefings, and analytical presentations for senior government stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess financial assumptions, validate model outputs, and recommend enhancements to analytical methodologies and reporting processes.
  • Serve as a strategic liaison across federal agencies and partner organizations to drive alignment, reduce friction, and enhance capital effectiveness.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of financial reporting tools, data systems, workflow management processes, and modeling best practices.
  • Support the development and documentation of financial analysis methodologies, investment policies, risk mitigation strategies, and reporting frameworks.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Business, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3–7 years of experience in financial modeling, capital markets, investment analysis, strategic finance, or the defense innovation ecosystem.
  • Deep knowledge of financial modeling methodologies, valuation techniques, capital strategy, investment structures, and public-private funding models.
  • Proven experience building, reviewing, interpreting, and challenging complex financial or quantitative models.
  • Strong proficiency in financial forecasting, scenario analysis, risk analysis, and data-driven decision-making.
  • Experience utilizing advanced analytical tools and programming languages such as Excel, Python, R, SAS, or similar technologies.
  • Strong understanding of capital markets, investment analysis, and financial engineering principles.
  • Proven experience evaluating or supporting innovation in dual-use or national security-relevant technologies.
  • Demonstrated success in senior-level roles involving interagency coordination, policy interpretation, strategic financial analysis, or capital allocation.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to translate complex analytical findings into clear, actionable insights for technical and non-technical audiences.
