NDT Technician Trainee or Level 1

SUMMARY:
Trainee:
As a strong communicator and skilled hands-on NDT Technician Trainee, you will learn all aspects of inspection services from the Level I, II or III Technician such as following established methods of inspection, procedures to determine product compliance, and learning different NDT methods and techniques. Experience will be obtained under the direct observation of a Level II or Level III. Any experience obtained under the direct observation of a Level I or instructor will only be applied when approved by the responsible Level III.
Level l:
The NDT Technician is responsible for setting up, calibrating, and performing nondestructive testing (NDT) inspections to evaluate material quality and detect defects. This role requires hands-on execution of NDT methods, accurate documentation and reporting of test results, and participation in specialized inspections. The technician supports client programs, safety initiatives, and incident investigations while adhering to applicable codes, standards, and safety requirements

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Trainee
- Observes test procedures and product compliance to learn internal and industry specifications.
- Observe and learn the procedures required to perform work and gain certification in the required NDT methods.
- Observe and learn proper documentation process required for NDT testing.
- Learn to use, supply, and/or hold materials or tools.
- Prepare, set-up, and complete all necessary paperwork as required by client and company requirements.
- Responsible for cleanliness of all work areas and equipment.
- Follow the company’s safe work practices and procedures at all times.
- Actively participate in client safety initiatives, incident investigations, etc.
- Perform other job-related tasks as assigned by management.
Level l:
- Familiar with the scope and limitations of the method of NDT being used and should exercise assigned responsibility for on-the-job training
- Set up and calibrate nondestructive testing equipment.
- Conduct tests to ensure quality or detect defects using NDT methods of inspection.
- Organize and report test results.
- Perform specialized inspections.
- Actively participate in client programs, planning and strategy sessions.
- Actively participate in client safety initiatives, incident investigations, etc.
- Perform other job-related tasks as assigned by management
QUALIFICATIONS:
Trainee
- Complete applicable classroom time and practical hours to achieve Level I certification within the 1st year of employment.
- Be available to attend classes as they are scheduled for the duration of the training.
- Demonstrate ability to effectively perform assigned NDT tasks and interpret results of inspections.
- Must be a U.S. Person (U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (green card holder) or other status as a U.S. Person)
Level l:
- NDT Level I Certification (Radiography)
- UT, MT, PT Certification are a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively perform assigned NDT tasks.
- Code shooting capabilities.
- IRRSP or State Card.
- Must be a U.S. Person (U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (green card holder) or other status as a U.S. Person)
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Trainee:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Some college preferred.
- No experience required but experience in the industry is highly desirable
Level l:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Some college preferred.
- 1-2 years of experience as a Level II NDT Technician or similar field
ITAR REQUIREMENTS:
