Swiss CNC Programmer - Tsugami

Reporting to the Director of Engineering, this position will support the CNC Programming team’s efforts in developing and improving machining and programming processes for Swiss CNC manufacturing operations. This position will work closely with Engineering and Manufacturing to develop and advance machining processes for high-precision aerospace and defense components. Create CNC programs for Tsugami Swiss CNC machines using customer specifications, blueprints, and process documentation. Work independently with minimal direction from Supervisor.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Work from and follow process specifications, work orders, travelers, setup sheets, blueprints, engineering drawings, material specifications, and verbal/written instructions.
- Program and optimize Tsugami Swiss CNC machines for aerospace and defense components.
- Develop machining processes to improve efficiency, reduce scrap, and improve production yield.
- Troubleshoot machining, tooling, setup, and program issues on the production floor.
- Coordinate with Engineering and Manufacturing teams to support new product introductions and process improvements.
- Create and maintain CNC programs, setup sheets, tooling documentation, and process instructions.
- Support setup personnel and machinists during prove-outs and production runs.
- Improve cycle times, tool life, and overall manufacturing efficiency.
- Read and interpret blueprints, GD&T, process sheets, and customer specifications.
- Select tooling, workholding, and machining strategies for optimal production performance.
- Run inspection sheets and maintain documentation for reference.
- Update programs per engineering orders (EOs).
- Check part programs to blueprint specifications.
- Report improper operation, faulty equipment, defective materials, and unusual conditions to Leadperson/Supervisor.
- Requires the use and ownership of basic tools and various hand tools as specified by departmental tool list.
- Perform housekeeping duties as required.
- Other duties as assigned by Leadperson/Supervisor.
Key Roles
- Support production through troubleshooting machining and programming issues
- Maintain manufacturing documentation including setup sheets, inspection sheets, and CNC programs
- Work with Engineering and Manufacturing to improve machining processes and efficiencies
- Support training and development of machining personnel
- Assist in continuous improvement initiatives related to quality, cost, and throughput

Education & Experience Requirements:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED), and two years CNC machine operation and programming experience and training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Basic knowledge of computers and programs, fundamentals of turning and milling, and applications related to such.
Ability to perform the duties of the job applying basic mathematics, such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Preferred Skills:
Proficiency in one or more CAM applications (e.g. Mastercam, Camworks, etc)
Experience with 3-D modeling software (e.g. Solidworks, catia, etc)
Understanding of complex CNC programming tasks and latest tooling technology
Required Knowledge and Skills:
The employee must possess the ability to communicate effectively with all internal and external customers in both written and oral form.
