Barista Direct Support Professional

One Part-Time Position. 20 hours per week.

Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

Hiring Range: $17.00 - $18.53 / hr., depending upon education and experience.

This position will remain open until filled.


Minimum Requirements

Required:   

• Minimum age 18. 

Preferred: 

• One year of Barista experience. 

• Six months experience in a related field, i.e., serving individuals with Intellectual and Developmentally Disabled, or the mental health field.

Position Summary 

Baristas warmly greet and assist each customer, creating a welcoming and engaging environment. This role also provides person-centered support to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities while preparing and serving coffee, cookies, and other menu items. 


Ariel Clinical Services Mission

Essential Duties and Responsibilities  

1. Prepare and serve Perdita menu items as specified or requested. Explain menu options to customers and recommend upsells. 

2. Maintain an inviting atmosphere through cleaning and stocking. 

3. Monitor freezer, refrigerator, and heating equipment temperatures to ensure proper operation. Report any malfunction or needed repair to a supervisor and maintain compliance with Public Health Department requirements. 

4. Receive and process customer payments, manages and balances Point of Sale (POS) register. 

5. Create signs to advertise store products or events. 

6. Follow opening and closing procedures. 

7. Teach clients self-help, social, interpersonal, and daily living skills, according to their treatment plans. 

8. Review and become familiar with client specific protocols, services and supports, and individual support plans. Complete required documentation daily. 

9. Communicate effectively and efficiently with other team members, leads, supervisors, manger, and other agency administration as needed. 

10. Follow all safety procedures and agency policies. 

11. Safely provide transportation per Ariel’s Transportation Policy.  

12. Maintain professional boundaries while establishing a trustworthy and beneficial relationship. Represent the agency in a positive and professional manner. 

13. Performs other duties as assigned.

1. Must work closely with other Ariel programs. 

Requirements

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities 

1. Ability to teach job related skills. 

2. Skilled in maintaining a high level of confidentiality in all areas related to working at Ariel. 

3. Ability to provide excellent customer service and meet professional standards of work performed. 

4. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. 

5. Be available to work outside of traditional office hours including nights, weekends, and holidays as necessary to perform the functions of the position. 

6. Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English verbally, electronically, and in writing. 

7. Ability to be flexible, and able to change direction rapidly, with a positive and respectful attitude. 

8. Ability to work independently, prioritize workload, complete a wide variety of tasks in a timely and accurate fashion, as well as an ability to be an effective team player. 

9. Basic computer, math, and money-handling skills. 

10. Strong understanding of Ariel Clinical Services’ work and the rules and regulations that govern the program. 

11. Skilled in critical thinking and use of sound judgment to arrive at a positive outcome. 

12. Ability to provide reliable, insured transportation for self and others through the community served as needed. 

13. Ability to demonstrate consistent and reliable attendance as scheduled and requested. 


Education and Experience 

Required:   

• Minimum age 18. 

Preferred: 

• One year of Barista experience. 

• Six months experience in a related field, i.e., serving individuals with Intellectual and Developmentally Disabled, or the mental health field. 


Certifications/Licenses 

1. Valid Colorado Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record. 

2. Food Protection Manager Certification – within 30 days of hire. 

3. CPR, First Aid – within 90 days of hire.  

4. CPI training within 60 days of hire. 

5. Van Drivers Training – before driving an Ariel owned vehicle. 


Supervisory Responsibilities 

None 


Physical Demands 

1. This position requires that the incumbent be capable of bending, sitting, stretching, and/or reaching regularly for periods up to two hours without a break.   

2. This position requires that the incumbent have adequate hand and finger dexterity to properly perform the functions of the position. 

3. This position requires lifting regularly up to 40 pounds. 

4. This position requires the ability to hear, see, smell, and distinguish temperature, at a level which is adequate to ensure customer, client and staff health and safety.  Adaptive devices are acceptable. 

5. This position will require daily driving of up to one hour per day and occasionally up to four hours per day.  

6. Climbing may be required from time to time. 


Work Environment 

1. This position can and will be exposed to all environments from quiet to noisy, climate controlled to extreme outdoor heat and cold, and dangers associated with working with cash and the public.  

2. This position will also be exposed to hot liquids and café equipment i.e.: mixers, stoves, blenders, knives, etc. 

3. Exposure to hazardous chemicals is possible but limited. 

4. Exposure to bloodborne pathogens and infectious disease is possible but limited.
