Location: Austin, Texas (Hybrid)
Reports To: VP, Merchandising and Planning
Department: Supply Chain and Planning
The Sr. Inventory Planner will help plan, purchase, and maintain inventory levels across all products, reporting to the VP, Merchandising & Planning. Inventory is one of the most important components in hitting our company objectives. The ideal candidate for this role embraces the challenges and responsibilities that go along with planning inventory. They take personal ownership of data accuracy and reporting integrity — this role is the system of record for inventory. Key Responsibilities
Inventory Planning & Forecasting
- Forecast sales at a SKU-level and build bottom-up plans in support of sales and inventory productivity
- Create inventory buy plans to meet demand needs and ideal stock levels for all sales channels (wholesale,eCommerce, and stores)
- Maintain an open-to-buy that appropriately manages receipt flow in order to maximize sales and inventory
- Provide forecasts to the Supply Chain team to optimize raw materials, factory production capacity, and improve costing
Inventory Strategy & Business Insights
- Maintain KPIs that provide insights into inventory quality, best seller performance, and low stock alerts for core inventory
- Assist in developing and communicating merchandise financial plans that support the company's overall target objectives for all channels
- Collaborate on top-down inventory plans by category to align with company initiatives
- Serve as a key analytical voice in cross-functional meetings by translating complex data into clear business recommendations for all teams involved (Supply Chain, Product Development, Design, Sales, and E-commerce)
- Oversee the Retail channel inventory through optimal allocation strategies and assortment recommendations
- Make decisions to pull in or push out product to meet sales objectives and partner with Production Teams
Reporting & Operational Excellence
- Own inventory reporting accuracy and maintain strong data integrity standards across systems and reporting tools
- Proactively improve processes and tools for reporting and analysis
- Maintain KPIs that provide insights into inventory quality, best seller performance, and low stock alerts for core inventory
- Deliver critical insights to help grow our sales in each channel
- Collaborate with peers to ensure consistency of information, share best practices and develop systems knowledge
- Maintain various reports weekly/monthly, and perform ad-hoc analysis to assist in meeting sales objectives
Requirements
What You Bring
- 5+ years in planning, buying, or allocation
- Experience at a fashion or retail company is preferred
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and deliver clear, actionable insights
- Proficiency in Excel required
- Approaches inventory challenges with analytical creativity — comfortable building non-standard models and finding patterns in complex data sets
- Takes personal ownership of data accuracy and reporting integrity; high attention to detail with a low tolerance for error
- Strong communication skills grounded in analytics to lead dialogue with peers and leadership regarding product decisions
- Thrives in a fast-moving environment and brings their own organizational discipline to create clarity amid change
- Comfortable managing multiple time-sensitive decisions simultaneously and maintains composure and precision when priorities shift quickly
- Strong at prioritizing and managing multiple projects with a bias toward action
