About the Role

Description

 

The diagnostic imaging manager's primary responsibilities are overseeing the day-to-day clinical operations of the Imaging Center.  Responsible for managing the technical activities, general operations, and staffing of the center, which includes X-Ray, CT scan, DEXA and MRI. The Manager of Radiology maximizes the use of available resources to reflect the standards of patient care, productivity and helps to positively grow our impact in the community. 


Supervisory Responsibilities: 

  • Oversees Radiologic Technologists 

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Performs technologist duties 
  • Sets clear and specific expectations/objectives for techs 
  • Monitors and documents performance of tech employees during performance periods. 
  • Approves employee timecards, schedules and time off employees 
  • Recognizes and provides coaching, counseling, and discipline as appropriate. 
  • Keeps all team members informed regarding internal issues and external developments. 
  • Provides team members with support and motivation. 
  • Adheres to all OSHA, Medicare/Medicaid and state regulations, along with generally accepted safety protocols. 
  • Displays willingness and ability to make tough decisions. 
  • Demonstrates sound judgment. 
  • Integrates changes smoothly. 
  • Responds professionally under pressure. 
  • Actively promotes the Center and MEDRVA in all interactions with team members ,outside vendors and the community 
  • Advocates change to maximize effectiveness and efficiency. 
  • Oversees the overall performance of the Center. 
  • Partner with revenue cycle department who manages billing and prior authorization/registrar staff  
  • Recruits, interviews, and select employees. 
  • Creates and maintains Imaging Center policies. 
  • Confers with Radiologist group regarding changes in protocols, techniques, and medications; informs technologists of such changes. 
  • Super user for PACS database. Maintains user accounts and works with RAR IT staff to rectify IT PACS issues. 
  • Assists SPSC and WC with radiology components of AAAHC inspection. Performs/maintains annual lead apron testing logs. 
  • Oversees working with technologists to maintain ACR accreditation status. 

Requirements

 

  • Familiarity with and ability to use selected equipment (as applicable). 
  • Ability to communicate effectively through verbal and written communication. 
  • Ability to exercise a high degree of initiative, judgment, discretion and decision-making to achieve department and organizational objectives. 
  • Ability to share information effectively and provide appropriate direction to team members. 
  • Ability to delegate responsibility and authority to team members. 
  • Knowledge of state and federal health and safety regulations. 
  • Knowledge of developing budgets. 
  • General computer skills and Microsoft Office knowledge. 

Education and Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree  
  • Registered Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) 
  • VA State License Required (or obtained within 90 days) 
  • CT and MRI experience preferred and a minimum of 2, preferably 3 years of progressive management experience.
