Lenawee Christian Ministries provides Christ-centered education, spiritual development, and wellness services to the Lenawee County community, centered around Jesus Christ. The ministry is made up of two operating entities: Lenawee Christian School and the Christian Family Centre, located in Adrian, MI.

POSITION SUMMARY.
The Varsity Girls Basketball Head Coach provides spiritual, strategic, and operational leadership for the girls basketball program at Lenawee Christian School. This role is responsible for developing student-athletes physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually while building a Christ-centered program culture aligned with the mission and values of Lenawee Christian School.
The Head Coach is responsible for leading all aspects of the varsity girls’ basketball program, including athlete development, coaching leadership, program culture, practice and game management, offseason development, and youth program support. The Coach is expected to model Christ-centered leadership, professionalism, integrity, and servant-hearted mentorship in all interactions.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES.
Program Leadership & Vision
- Cast vision and provide leadership for the continued growth and development of the girls basketball program.
- Build and maintain a Christ-centered team culture focused on character, accountability, teamwork, discipline, and excellence.
- Develop and implement a long-term program philosophy that aligns varsity, junior varsity, and youth basketball development.
- Maximize available school and ministry resources to support program growth and student-athlete development.
Coaching & Athlete Development
- Plan and lead practices focused on team systems, individual skill development, conditioning, and basketball fundamentals.
- Develop competitive game strategies with the goal of competing with excellence in every contest.
- Promote leadership, sportsmanship, discipline, and personal growth among student-athletes.
- Assist student-athletes in recognizing and developing their God-given gifts, talents, and leadership abilities.
Program Culture & Relationship Building
- Foster a positive and encouraging team atmosphere through communication, mentorship, and relationship-building.
- Maintain professional and effective communication with students, parents, officials, administration, and coaching staff.
- Represent Lenawee Christian School positively within the school community, conference, and broader community.
Youth Program & Offseason Development
- Support and encourage the development of youth basketball programs and athletes.
- Assist with offseason opportunities, including:
- Camps and clinics
- Open gyms
- Skill development sessions
- Summer programming
- Help cultivate long-term passion and participation in the basketball program.
Mission Integration
- Regularly incorporate Biblical teaching, mentorship, and spiritual encouragement into the basketball program.
- Model Christ-centered leadership, humility, integrity, and servant-heartedness.
- Encourage student-athletes in their spiritual growth and relationship with Jesus Christ.
QUALIFICATIONS.
Christian Faith & Character
- Profess and demonstrate a personal commitment to Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
- Exhibit a consistent Christian testimony and adherence to biblical principles in personal and professional life.
- Demonstrate spiritual maturity, humility, and a strong commitment to excellence and servant leadership
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of two (2) years of basketball coaching experience at the varsity level or higher preferred.
- Prior experience leading or developing athletic programs preferred.
Certifications
- CPR/First Aid certification required (or ability to obtain prior to season start).
- Completion of any required MHSAA coaching certifications and trainings.
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong knowledge of basketball fundamentals, strategy, player development, and team leadership.
- Strong communication, organizational, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to mentor and disciple student-athletes in a Christ-centered environment.
- Commitment to ongoing personal and professional development.
EMPLOYMENT TERMS.
- This position is classified as seasonal, honorarium-based and follows the girls basketball season calendar, including applicable offseason responsibilities.
- Compensation is provided as a fixed stipend (honorarium) and is not based on hourly wages.
- The role requires availability for:
- Practices and competitions
- Team meetings and athletic events
- Offseason development activities
- Evening and weekend responsibilities
- Employment is at-will and contingent upon:
- Successful completion of background screening
- Compliance with school and athletic department policies
- Adherence to the Ministry’s Statement of Faith and Lifestyle Commitment.
