About the Role

The Duquesne Club is among the most recognized private city clubs in the United States and internationally. We provide our members and guests with social, business, and recreational experiences marked by superior service and exceptional personal attention. We are currently seeking dedicated, career-driven Pastry Cooks to join our talented team in delivering extraordinary experiences to our members.


Position Summary:

As a Pastry Cook at the Duquesne Club, you will work alongside a passionate team of professionals. Our ideal candidate will possess the ability to demonstrate creativity and take ownership of their responsibilities. This role requires not only technical culinary skills but also a commitment to maintaining the highest standards in food preparation, presentation, and sanitation. 

The Pastry Cook will partake in the Club’s macaroon production. This is our signature cookie that is well-known and a favorite of many. The position also assists with preparation of plated desserts for banquets, and the executive of PM a la carte line requests from several of the dining rooms inside the Club.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare menu items following standardized recipes and presentation guidelines.
  • Work efficiently and with precision.
  • Ensure food quality by following safety and sanitation standards.
  • Exhibit knowledge of fundamental cooking techniques.
  • Take ownership of tasks, maintaining consistency and attention to detail.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area throughout the shift.
  • Communicate effectively with team members to ensure smooth operations.

Requirements:

  • Excellent coordination and manual dexterity.
  • Must be able to stand and walk throughout the entire shift.
  • Requires mobility to bend, stoop, grasp, reach, twist, and lift equipment or items.
  • Ability to withstand various degrees of temperatures during shift.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Physical strength to pull or push equipment as needed.
  • Ability to follow written directions, read recipes, labels on chemicals/cleaning products, etc.
  • Ability to actively listen to others and respond verbally to requests in a professional and effective manner.
  • Follow all policies and procedures.
  • Attend meetings as assigned.
  • Respectful of all as teamwork is important because together everyone achieves more.
  • May be required to perform any related duty as directed by management.
  • Preferred candidate to be a graduate of an accredited culinary program or attending a culinary art/apprenticeship program.
