Job Summary
As a Machinist Apprentice, you will work under the close supervision of journey-level machinists to set up and operate manual and CNC machines to produce precision parts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Machine Operation: Assist in setting up and operating manual and CNC lathes, milling machines, and grinders.
- Quality Inspection: Use precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, height gages, bore gages, etc.) to ensure parts meet specifications.
- Safety & Cleanliness: Adhere to all safety guidelines and maintain a clean, organized work area (5S).
- Learning & Education: Attend required related technical instruction (classroom training) and apply knowledge to daily shop operations.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Must be 18 years old.
- Understanding of shop math (decimals, fractions, geometry—trigonometry a plus). There will be a test given!
- Ability to read or learn to read technical drawings and blueprints.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and desire to work with your hands.
- Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to read, understand and follow work instructions in English.
- Prior machining experience is a plus.
- Veteran of the U.S. Military is a plus.
