SUMMARY
The Language Resource Center Manager plays a pivotal role in preserving, revitalizing, and promoting the Squaxin Island Tribe’s language. This position is responsible for establishing and managing a comprehensive Language Resource Center that supports language learners, teachers, and community members. The Manager oversees archival research, curriculum development, teacher training, grant management, and language technology initiatives to ensure the continued vitality and accessibility of the Squaxin language for future generations. This position works closely with Tribal leadership, language educators, cultural staff, department directors and community stakeholders.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Establish and manage the Squaxin Island Tribe Language Resource Center.
· Develop and maintain language study labs and resource spaces.
· Extract, organize, and preserve historical and archived Squaxin language materials.
· Research, apply for, and manage language revitalization grants.
· Obtain Southern Lushootseed and Squaxin language resources from archival institutions and prepare them for community use.
· Develop educational materials, proficiency guidelines, and evaluation tools for learners of all ages.
· Provide teacher training and develop a Squaxin teaching certification program.
· Support multimedia language preservation efforts, including digitizing images, documents, and audio recordings.
· Digitally archive and organize preserved language materials.
· Attend related meetings and maintain strong community and stakeholder relationships.
· Provide reports and strategic recommendations to the Operations Director.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position may provide guidance and oversight to language instructors, contractors, interns, or volunteers associated with the Language Resource Center but does not have formal supervisory responsibilities unless otherwise assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Master’s Degree in Education, Linguistics or related field and a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience; OR Bachelor’s degree in Education, Linguistics or related field and a minimum of five years of relevant experience; Experience in language revitalization, curriculum development, grant management, and community engagement preferred.
