About the Role

Full-Time Floating Direct Support Professional (40 hrs/week + Paid Availability)

Are you an experienced DSP that prides themselves on working with anyone? Do you like variety in your schedule? Then we have the job for you. Total Living Concept is currently seeking an experienced and dependable Direct Support Professional (DSP) to serve in a relief/floating position within our Supported Living program. This is a full-time position with a schedule of 40 hours per week, plus additional paid availability to support scheduling flexibility and continuity of care. Flexibility, compassion, and a commitment to quality care, as well as the ability to quickly adapt to new situations is a must.

The selected candidate will receive on-the-job training to provide one-on-one support services for multiple individuals and must be able to:

  • Work with both men and women
  • Drive an accessible van or your personal vehicle to transport people to appointments, shopping, running errands, etc.
  • Work in homes that may have a cat or a dog
  • Safety assist with mobility and transfers (familiar with Hoyer lifts and other methods of safe support)
  • Able to work in Auburn, Kent, Federal Way or other South King County locations

Schedule & Availability Requirements:

  • Scheduled hours: 40 hours per week 
  • Required availability window: 4 days a week, 64 hours per week, from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. and include at least one weekend day
  • You will not be scheduled for over 40 hours/week unless mutually agreed 

Additional Availability Pay:

  • In addition to your regular hourly wage, you will receive $1.50 per hour for each hour of availability (approximately $416 extra per month)
  • This means you are compensated for maintaining availability, even when not actively working

Our services depend on consistent staffing and the ability to respond to changing needs. Your expanded availability ensures stability for people we support – while also providing you with additional guaranteed earnings. This additional pay is provided for being available to work during designation hours and does not require you to remain on-site.

Qualified candidates should demonstrate reliability, strong communication skills, and prior experience supporting individuals in a residential or supported living environment.

Job Description

DSP’s are supervised by Team Coordinators. The DSP’s role is to function as a team member providing instruction and support to people with disabilities. DSP’s are expected to learn, understand and follow our policies, mission, and Person-Centered Principles and incorporate these into daily support for people with disabilities. DSP’s are responsible for supporting individuals to participate in the full range of activities that make up their life in the community, including those activities both at home and in their neighborhoods, which are necessary to establish a lifestyle in accordance with supported objectives. This position description is an example of the essential duties and functions of the job, but is not an all-inclusive list of responsibilities, qualifications, physical demands and work environment conditions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct support based on individual plans
  • Supporting people to be actively involved in their community, making and/or maintaining relationships with friends and family, assisting with daily living including cooking, cleaning, shopping, personal hygiene, daily financial transactions
  • Providing support for medical and health needs, and depending on the individual, with physical transfers using appropriate equipment
  • Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors and the people we support, in a positive and professional manner.
  • On the job driving will be required

Qualifications:

  • Dependable with strong attendance and reliable transportation
  • Able to commit to the full availability window; exact days to be discussed at interview and prior to hire
  • At least 18 years old at employment.
  • High school diploma/general education diploma or higher education.
  • Able to successfully pass a Washington State Background check *not all convictions are disqualifying. See RCW 43.43.830 or 43.43.842
  • Valid Washington State Driver's License with a good driving record
  • At least two years’ experience providing support to adults with developmental disabilities
