About the Role

GENERAL SUMMARY: Build a weld fixture to production standards working with Manufacturing Engineering and tool designers.  Will do layout work working with complicated blueprints and/or sketches.

 

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Devise and build efficient, dependable fixtures/tools for use in fabricating production components.
  • Maintain, repair and change fixtures as required by the customer or Engineering staff.
  • Work closely with supervision and fellow employees to support the department mission.
  • Comply with all Company policies and practices as specified.
  • Report labor and job data accurately.
  • Maintain quality, safety and efficiency.
  • Maintain clean and neat work area.
  • Perform other jobs within the department or plant as required by supervision.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Frequently exposed to noise, odors, dust, chemicals, temperature extremes, hazardous substances, drafts, electricity and heights.  Typically requires the use of cranes, hoists, welders, grinders, drill press, brake press, saws, etc.  Hearing protection, safety glasses, steel-toed shoes with metatarsal protection, face shield or goggles, welding helmet and gloves are required.

Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND QUALIFICATIONS:

 

EDUCATION:

High School diploma or equivalent preferred.  Three years experience or two years experience and one year Technical college or equivalent preferred.  CNC and Pro E computer skills are required.  Proficiency demonstrated through company test required.

 

WORK EXPERIENCE:

Prior experience in a manufacturing environment is beneficial.  Equivalent of three year welding experience and understanding of production methods and processes preferred.

 

SKILLS:

A good command of the English language is required, both written and spoken.  Strong interpersonal and communication skills are required.  Must have the knowledge of and ability to operate all Tool Room equipment.  Must be able to read complicated layout and welding prints. Must presently be a certified welder to weld “ROPS” structures or capable of obtaining the “A” certification prior to job award.  Must have held a Welder “A” position for 75 days minimum.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be able to physically perform essential functions of the job.  Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 24 lbs., frequently up to 50 lbs. and occasionally up to 100 lbs.  Typically requires standing on a regular basis; stooping, crouching, reaching and handling frequently; and walking, sitting, climbing, balancing and kneeling occasionally.  Specific vision requirements include depth perception and color vision.
