The Opportunity

Western Port Manufacturing facility is looking for a Mechanical Equipment Specialist in our Maintanance team based in Hastings. As a part of the broader Australian Steel Products Portfolio, we have four major manufacturing sites at Western Port which operate 24 x 7 and deliver a variety of products, innovative solutions and services to export and domestic customers.

Leveraging your strong technical background, in this critical role you will ensure the reliability of our equipment to protect the quality of our product for our valued customers. Working in a manufacturing environment you’ll apply your skill and knowledge to a number of activities, from supporting safe and efficient emergency repairs, to fault finding, inspections and continuous improvement activities. Your contributions will directly benefit the equipment on our production lines and deliver our business maximum up-time and reliability.

This is a permanent full-time position working Monday - Friday, typical working the hours of 6:30am - 3:30pm.

What Will You Do?

Showcasing your technical background and experience with process line equipment while working in a supportive environment, you will contribute to the safety of our people, the quality of our product and the reliability of our equipment. You will achieve this by:

  • undertake troubleshooting day-to-day problems, recommending and implementing robust solutions
  • analyse maintenance history and perform root cause analysis and reporting
  • working with the wider maintenance team and contribute to planning and continuous improvement initiatives
  • undertaking reporting and inspections to develop short and longer-term solutions
  • contribute to improving asset operating practices and maintenance strategies
  • contribute to shutdown planning and execution (biannually)
