Community Data and Engagement Coordinator

We're looking for someone with deep roots in the North Coast to help us understand what community services and supports exist across the region, what's working, and where the gaps are.
This is a field-based contract/freelance role. You'll spend most of your time out in community: meeting with councils, service providers, and local organisations across the North Coast, gathering detailed information about what's available, and helping us build a clear picture of what people actually need.
The work is part of a project we're delivering with Healthy North Coast, the region's Primary Health Network. Today is leading the design and research, and this role sits within our team for the duration of the engagement.
The workThe engagement runs across two stages. The first focuses on Coffs Harbour, Ballina, Byron Bay, Lismore and Port Macquarie over three months. The second extends across the broader North Coast region.
You'll be building relationships with local organisations, mapping services and activities in detail, and translating what you hear into clear, structured information that feeds into the wider project. You'll have a collaborative team behind you at Today, and will work closely with the Healthy North Coast team throughout.
What you bringYou already know the sector. You have existing relationships across the region, or you know how to build them quickly. You understand how community organisations work and how to earn trust with the people who run them.
You're organised and methodical. You can move between conversations with a family violence service, a council youth team, and a community health centre in the same week, and turn all of it into something useful.
You'll likely have experience in community development, community health, or social services, ideally in regional NSW. You hold a current driver's licence and are comfortable with regular regional travel.
What we offerA competitive rate, consistent with market rates for this level of experience in regional NSW. Flexible, field-based work with autonomy to manage your own schedule within agreed deliverables. And the chance to contribute to something that will genuinely help people in your community access the support they need.
