Youth Library Services Ambassador (Part-Time, 18 hours/week)

If so, join us as our Youth Library Services Ambassador!
In this role, you will provide a warm and welcoming presence at the Youth Services Desk, offering readers’ advisory, reference, and technology assistance to children, families, and caregivers. You will actively connect patrons with library services, resources, and programs while creating a positive and engaging library experience for all.
This position averages 18 hours per week, including a weekend rotation. Hours are as follows:
· Mondays: 5-9pm
· Tuesdays: 5-9pm
· Thursdays: 5-9pm
And every other weekend:
· Saturdays: 9am – 5pm
· Sundays: 1-5pm
The pay range for this position is $20.83 per hour.
Education/Experience/Qualifications
· Bachelor’s Degree or LTA Certificate or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience working with children and families in a library or educationally comparable environment
· Familiarity with children’s literature is highly desired
· Available to work evenings and weekends
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
· Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build positive relationships with a diverse staff and patrons
· Knowledge of current services, resources, and trends in library practices
· Successfully handles multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
· Can listen, analyze, problem solve, and exercise good judgment when handling both routine and non-routine issues
· Works independently, prioritizes effectively, and adapts to changing workflows
· Can operate a personal computer; has knowledge of ILS software, email, Windows, Excel, and basic word processing functions
· Ability to learn, assist others, and perform basic troubleshooting on a variety of library technologies
· Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, stoop, reach overhead, and lift up to 25 lbs.
