About the Role

Dishwasher/Food Service Worker

Starting Wages: $22.00/hour 


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (copy required upon initial hire date)
  • Yearly Physical (required within one month of initial hire date)
  • Valid NYS Drivers License (copy required upon initial hire date)
  • Ability to work with a diverse population presenting a variety of cultural, socioeconomic, developmental and sexual identities. Must have the ability and willingness to establish and foster healthy and supportive relationships that acknowledge individual identities and encourage personal growth.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Experience in related field


REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Must successfully complete all required background checks:
  • NYS Statewide Central Register of Child Abuse and Maltreatment (SCR)
  • Multi-State Sex Offender Registry (SOR) 
  • NYS Division of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) fingerprinting
  • NYS Justice Center Staff Exclusion List (SEL)
  • NYS OMIG Medicaid Exclusion List
  • Out-of-state child abuse register inquiry of any state in which the person resided within the last five years (if applicable)
  • NYS License Event Notification Service (LENS)
  • Office of Inspector General (OIG)
  1. Must successfully complete Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI)


HOURS: 

  • 40 Hours per week. Must be flexible to meet the needs of the program


OBJECTIVES OF POSITION:

  1. To maintain food service area sanitation standards in accordance with Federal, State and County guidelines.
  2. To supervise and teach good work habits to residents assigned to work in your area, as well as fill out evaluations on them as their supervisor.
  3. To provide a positive role model for residents in the care of The William George Agency.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Be able to lift at least 50 pounds.
  2. Tolerate prolonged periods of standing and walking.
  3. Be able to walk up and down stairs.


 

 

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Supervise and know the whereabouts of residents assigned to your area of responsibility and overtime workers and report out of program residents to the Support Team.
  2. Evaluate resident's performance using the Daily Level System Evaluation Sheets in accordance with published guidelines and individual goals. Give daily sheets to the Dining Room Attendant for consolidation.
  3. Prepare written Incident Reports on critical incidents and give them to the Director of Food Services.
  4. In the absence of resident workers, be able to accomplish all required work promptly.
  5. Supervise and assist resident workers in the following areas:
    1. Washing and putting away silver, dishes and pots and pans.
    2. Set up the dining room for dinner, when necessary.
    3. Following nightly closing, check list as published by the Director of Food Services.
    4. Learning to dress properly for work.
    5. Learning to follow instructions and accept supervision.
    6. Following safety and sanitation guidelines.
    7. Learning how to work with co-workers.
  6. Help Afternoon Cook in preparation and serving of dinner meal, if requested.
  7. Receive and help put away stock when necessary.
  8. Perform cleaning duties in accordance with Federal, State, and County Health Department guidelines and follow cleaning schedule as determined by the Director of Food Services.
  9. Help close building using Closing Checklist determined by the Director of Food Services.
  10. Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Food Services.
  11. Responsible for adhering to and performing all duties in accordance with every safety standard, practice, and policy of The William George Agency. This includes, but is not limited to, review of The William George Agency's Safety Policy and attending all required safety related training.
  1. Adhere to all rules, regulations, policies, and philosophy of The William George Agency and the New York State Office of Children and Family Services.

The William George Agency for Children’s Services is located on a 650-acre campus nine miles northeast of Ithaca, in the Finger Lakes Region of New York State. It is a private not-for-profit residential treatment center licensed by the New York State Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) that serves both male and female youth between the ages of 12 and 21, and their families, who present with significant mental health issues, behavioral difficulties, and substance abuse issues. Our programs offer an array of treatment modalities specifically designed to meet the needs of our youth.
