Position Summary

Elevated Life Academy is seeking a compassionate, skilled, and student-centered English Teacher to provide meaningful English Language Arts instruction in a supportive secondary school environment. The ideal candidate will be able to meet students where they are academically, emotionally, and socially while helping them build essential reading, writing, communication, critical thinking, and life-ready literacy skills.

This teacher will design and deliver engaging English instruction, differentiate lessons based on individual student needs, support IEP implementation, communicate regularly with families and team members, and create a classroom environment where students feel safe, respected, challenged, and empowered.


Key Responsibilities


Instruction and Curriculum

  • Develop and deliver engaging English Language Arts lessons aligned with student needs, academic standards, and school goals.
  • Teach reading comprehension, written expression, grammar, vocabulary, literature, communication, research, and critical thinking skills.
  • Differentiate instruction for students with varying learning profiles, academic levels, and support needs.
  • Incorporate real-life applications into English instruction, helping students connect reading, writing, and communication skills to everyday life, career readiness, and post-high school success.
  • Use a variety of instructional methods, including direct instruction, small-group instruction, project-based learning, guided practice, independent work, and assistive technology when appropriate.

Student Support

  • Create a structured, positive, and supportive classroom environment that promotes student confidence, emotional regulation, and academic growth.
  • Support students with unique learning, emotional, behavioral, and developmental needs through patience, consistency, and individualized strategies.
  • Implement accommodations, modifications, behavior supports, and instructional strategies as outlined in student plans.
  • Encourage student independence, self-advocacy, respectful communication, and personal responsibility.
  • Monitor student progress and adjust instruction based on academic performance, behavior, engagement, and individual goals.

IEP and Team Collaboration

  • Collaborate with school leadership, special education staff, related service providers, families, and other team members to support student success.
  • Participate in IEP implementation and contribute relevant classroom data, observations, and progress updates.
  • Maintain accurate documentation related to student progress, accommodations, grades, attendance, and classroom performance.
  • Support a team-based approach to student growth, consistent with Elevated Life Academy’s emphasis on family partnership, transparent communication, collaborative IEP implementation, and regular progress updates.

Assessment and Progress Monitoring

  • Use formative and summative assessments to evaluate student understanding and skill development.
  • Track student progress in reading, writing, communication, and English Language Arts standards.
  • Provide timely, constructive feedback to students.
  • Prepare progress reports, grades, and communication for families as required.
  • Use student data to inform instructional planning and intervention.

Classroom Culture and Professionalism

  • Build positive relationships with students based on trust, respect, consistency, and high expectations.
  • Maintain a welcoming and inclusive classroom culture.
  • Use proactive classroom management strategies that support emotional regulation, engagement, and student accountability.
  • Communicate professionally and regularly with families, staff, and administration.
  • Participate in staff meetings, professional development, school events, and collaborative planning.
  • Uphold the mission, values, and student-centered approach of Elevated Life Academy.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Education, Special Education, or a related field.
  • Experience teaching English Language Arts, literacy, writing, or related academic content.
  • Experience working secondary-level students.
  • Ability to differentiate instruction for students with diverse learning needs.
  • Strong classroom management, communication, organization, and documentation skills.
  • Commitment to creating a safe, structured, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with families, colleagues, and school leadership.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Arizona teaching certification in English, Secondary Education, Special Education, or a related area.
  • Experience working with students who have IEPs, learning differences, emotional regulation needs, behavioral needs, autism, ADHD, executive functioning challenges, or other developmental needs.
  • Familiarity with special education practices, accommodations, modifications, progress monitoring, and transition planning.
  • Training or experience in structured literacy, writing intervention, social-emotional learning, trauma-informed practices, or restorative classroom practices.
  • Experience integrating life skills, career readiness, and practical communication skills into academic instruction.
