About the role
We have an opportunity for a Systems Administrator (Linux/OpenShift) to be part of our Hosting Platform, Technology & Communication Service Command team. The Systems Administrator supports service delivery to the organisation in the management of IT computer systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer, monitor and optimise Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL 8+) environments
- Plan, deploy and maintain physical and virtual infrastructure
- Automate system configuration and patching using Ansible and Red Hat Satellite
- Support application teams with system integration, scripting and troubleshooting
- Maintain system security through patching, hardening and compliance adherence
- Monitor system health using tools such as Splunk and SolarWinds
- Participate in an on-call support rotation
Required Skills & Experience Professional
- Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work across infrastructure, security, and application development teams
Technical
- 3+ years Linux administration experience (preferably RHEL)
- Strong knowledge of CIS Framework, SELinux, LVM, LDAP, SSSD
- Proven troubleshooting ability across RHEL systems, including diagnosing complex issues in virtualised environments
Automation & Scripting
- Hands-on experience with Ansible
- Proficiency in Bash and/or Python
Infrastructure
- Understanding of networking fundamentals (routing, firewalls, TLS/SSL)
Observability
- Experience with monitoring tools such as Splunk, SolarWinds, Dynatrace
Desirable Skills and Certifications
- Kubernetes or OpenShift experience
- Linux certification (RHCSA/RHCE)
