Position Summary
The QA Leader is responsible for leading and continuously improving the site Quality Management System (QMS) to ensure consistent, specification-compliant production of recovered carbon black (rCB), recovered fuel oil (rFO/TPO), and other circular products. This role serves as the primary quality authority for the facility, partnering cross-functionally with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, and Commercial teams to deliver products that meet stringent industrial and automotive customer requirements.
The position plays a critical role in establishing quality standards, driving process discipline, supporting customer qualification, and reinforcing Bolder Industries’ commitment to circular economy performance, traceability, and ESG compliance.

· Location: Terre Haute, IN
· Schedule: Monday through Friday Day
Key Responsibilities
- Consistently and continuously emphasize and promote safe practices within the laboratory and plant.
- Own and maintain the plant Quality Management System (QMS), ensuring alignment with ISO 9001 standards and supporting ISO 14001 and IATF 16949 expectations.
- Establish and enforce quality procedures, specifications, and control plans across the full value chain—from ELT feedstock receipt through finished product shipment.
- Define and oversee product sampling, testing protocols, and laboratory operations for rCB, rFO/TPO, and by-products.
- Develop, track, and report key quality performance indicators (KPIs), including non-conformance rates, product yield, process capability (Cp/Cpk), and customer complaints.
- Drive data-based decision-making using statistical process control (SPC) and advanced analytics.
- Lead root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective/preventive action (CAPA) processes for deviations, off-spec production, and customer claims.
- Implement disciplined problem-solving methodologies (8D, 5-Why, FMEA) to eliminate recurring issues and strengthen process reliability.
- Support Management of Change (MOC) processes to ensure quality risks are identified and mitigated prior to implementation.
- Develop incoming inspection protocols and manage supplier performance, including non-conformance resolution and improvement plans
- Support customer audits, product qualifications, plant visits, and technical engagements.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Statistics, or a related technical field required; advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of quality leadership experience in chemicals, petrochemicals, carbon black, rubber, automotive, or similar continuous-process manufacturing environments.
- Strong working knowledge of ISO 9001 QMS; experience with IATF 16949 or automotive quality systems preferred.
- Familiarity with analytical methods relevant to carbon black, fuels/oils, or rubber compounds.
- Proficiency in statistical process control (SPC), data analysis, and quality tools.
- Experience in developing and executing product trials and communicating results to internal and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated experience in executing root-cause investigations using industry methods (8D, Fishbone, etc.) to resolve quality issues, customer complaints, deviations, etc.
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive organizational change.
- Ability to respectfully lead in a data-driven environment with stakeholders potentially holding different points of view.
Preferred Experience
- Exposure to ESG reporting, recycled-content verification, and mass-balance certification frameworks (e.g., ISCC).
- Experience in startup, commissioning, or scale-up environments is highly desirable.
