About the role
You'll own installability across our residential hardware — inverters, batteries, and everything around them — making installs faster, simpler, and harder to get wrong. Today this is decided product-by-product; you'll turn it into a discipline and become the single installability point of contact for all other PMs. You'll get hands-on in the lab and on real rooftops, turn the friction you find into hardware and UX fixes, and own the vision for an AI-native app that inspects and guides installers on site, step by step.
Responsibilities
- Work hands-on with the physical product — personally install, commission, and troubleshoot our hardware in the lab and on live sites, experiencing the installer's job first-hand to find what's slow, confusing, or error-prone.
- Own the installability strategy across all residential hardware — driving down installer effort, time on site, and error rate as measurable targets.
- Serve as the installability point of contact for all PMs: set the standards, review designs against them, and embed installability into every roadmap.
- Own the end-to-end installer experience — from the mechanical design and serviceability of the product itself to the indications, behavior, and tools the installer relies on — and drive the fixes.
- Translate field, product, and market insights into clear, prioritized hardware and UX requirements, including end-to-end flows and edge cases.
- Own the product vision for the AI installer-guidance app, partnering with engineering and AI teams to deliver it.
- Lead cross-functional execution across engineering, UX/UI, operations, field/service, sales, and support.
Requirements
- 5+ years owning hardware products end-to-end - spanning firmware, and software.
- Deep hands-on experience with a physical hardware product — you've personally installed, commissioned, serviced, or operated hardware and evaluated its UX yourself. Any hardware domain qualifies. This is the core requirement. This role centers on physical hardware; software-only or spec-only experience won't be the right fit.
- Track record of improving real-world installation/commissioning/configuration UX.
- Ability to turn customer needs and market signals into structured requirements and priorities.
- Ability to own the vision for an AI-native app.
- Creative, independent, initiative-driven; thrives in ambiguity.
- B.Sc required; MBA a plus.
- Strong English (written, verbal, presentations).
- Willingness to visit field sites and travel abroad.
A plus: hands-on experience building AI-native apps; PV/storage install background; installer-tool or field-service experience; a trade or electrical certification.
