About The Company
For over 50 years our medical group has been known as “PMA” which stands for “Pulmonary Medicine Associates.” Our providers care for some of the most complicated and critically ill patients in the Greater Sacramento Area, both in the hospital and in the outpatient office environment. Currently, PMA providers offer a broad spectrum of specialized services often found only in an academic setting. The scope of services available from the group’s Board Certified providers include, but are not limited to: •Critical Care Medicine – Assessment and care for seriously ill patients in the hospital •Tele-ICU Care – Assessment and management for seriously ill patients who are in the hospital, from a remote location •Pulmonary Medicine – Evaluation and care for patients with health problems involving the lungs. Examples include, but are not limited to asthma, emphysema, interstitial lung disease, pleural effusions, pulmonary embolism, sarcoidosis, pulmonary fibrosis, and lung infections •Infectious Diseases – Evaluation and care for patients with serious infections including acute infectious diseases, post operative infections, long term IV antibiotic treatment, and management of HIV disease •Palliative Care – Care focused on providing patients with relief from the symptoms, pain, and stress of a serious illness — whatever the prognosis •Sleep Medicine – Evaluation and treatment of the complete range of sleep disorders
About the Role

 Pulmonary Medicine Associates (PMA) has been treating patients in the greater Sacramento area for over 50 years and is a unique and exciting place to work. With specialties that include critical care, infectious disease, palliative care, pulmonology, pediatric pulmonology, and sleep medicine.  We are a busy practice with over 80 providers and 2 outpatient clinic locations.

Duties include:

• Reviews and sends visit notes to referring providers via electronic submission

• Scans documents and uploads into EMR on a daily basis

• Contacts patients to remind them to complete outstanding orders

• Securely shreds paper PHI within 3 business days from upload into EMR

• Clears Clinical in-box and interoffice mail daily

• Sorts, triages, and delivers incoming documents to correct users

• Processes, splits, reclassifies, labels and routes large documents according to PMA protocol

• Reviews and processes all requests for a Patient’s medical record following strict HIPAA guidelines

• Faxes patient information as requested using EMR Fax

• Mails patient records via encrypted CD or arranges for patient pick up

• Notifies supervisor of printed patient records for invoicing.

• Ensures State Disability requests are invoiced and uploaded via secured portal

• Performs regular audits and reclassifies/re-labels documents in patient chart as necessary

• Processes all Legal Subpoenas for records and Audit Requests for Risk Adjustment by insurance companies

• Ensures payment is collected prior to the release of medical records when applicable

• Follows all PMA medical records policies and procedures.

Requirements

  

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

· High school graduation or GED.

· Minimum of one-year related work experience; experience in a medical environment required.

· Strong customer service skills and ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the public.

· Strong computer skills. Previous experience using an EMR strongly preferred.

· Strong detail orientation.

· Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information and knowledge of HIPAA and Privacy Laws.

· Ability to file and maintain patient records, files and other correspondence.

· Ability to work independently and juggle multiple priorities.
