About the Role

Description

 Atlas is currently seeking an Inside/Outside Machinist for a client that is located in Mobile, AL. The purpose is to find a strong candidate to work within a team of Inside/Outside Machinists to achieve minimum production time, standards and quality in keeping with company policies, while maintaining a positive and motivated team environment. The starting pay is $34-$38 DOE with an extra incentive if you can perform field machining.

Responsibilities

  • Safely rig equipment following all OSHA requirements
  • Use CNC lathe, milling machine, and line boring machine
  • Inspection of work, identification of potential problems, initiation of corrective actions
  • Increase awareness of Quality procedures within department
  • Ensure adherence to correct work procedures
  • Perform as a productive working team member that meets daily goals set by the supervisor
  • Contribute towards innovation / productivity improvements
  • Assist in the control of waste elimination, e.g. materials, consumables etc
  • Assist supervisor to maintain control of department equipment and its maintenance
  • Ensure work area is left clean, all equipment and tools are stowed away safely and protected against damage

QUALIFICATIONS / KNOWLEDGE / EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma/GED required
  • 18 years or older at time of application
  • Able to provide proof of US Person status (permanent resident or citizen)
  • No felony convictions of violent crimes within seven years 
  • No felony convictions of drug crimes within three years
  • 2-year minimum work experience using CNC lathe, milling machine, & line boring machine.
  • Willing to submit to a drug screen & background check
  • Working knowledge of machining procedures, good mechanical aptitude and the ability to follow directions
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings
  • Ability to safely operate fixed and non-fixed machinery
  • Must be able to work with limited supervision
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
  • Ability to write simple correspondence
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide, and measure using metric
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
  • Proven problem-solving abilities

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to manipulate, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb and balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit.
Ability to turn head from side to side and about the vertical axis. Ability to turn body at the waist from side to side and about the vertical axis. Lift/push/pull 50lbs to 75lbs on an occasional basis. Lift/push/pull up to 20lbs on a frequent basis. Must have the ability to climb in a safe manner.
