About the Role
Description
We are seeking a dedicated and service-oriented Financial Services Representative to join our team. This role serves as a trusted financial partner to our members by identifying their needs, providing financial solutions, and delivering exceptional service experiences. The Financial Services Representative is responsible for opening accounts, originating consumer and home equity loans, promoting credit union products and services, and supporting business development initiatives that strengthen member relationships and help members afford life.
Key Responsibilities
Member Service & Relationship Building
- Conduct member interviews to identify financial needs and recommend appropriate products and services.
- Identifying opportunities to provide products and services that improve members' financial well-being and support their financial goals.
- and maintain membership accounts, including specialty accounts such as trusts and IRAs.
- Provide accurate disclosures and explain account features, lending products, and credit union services.
- Resolve member inquiries and ensure a positive member experience through professional and timely service.
- Assist the Business Development Officer with sponsor group visits, membership drives, and community outreach activities.
Lending & Loan Origination
- Interview members and gather information to evaluate consumer and real estate loan requests.
- Review credit reports, verify income and debts, calculate debt-to-income ratios, and assess collateral requirements.
- Process loan applications in accordance with credit union policies and regulatory requirements.
- Present and sell ancillary loan protection products, including GAP, Mechanical Breakdown Insurance (MBI), and Debt Protection.
- Coordinate title work and verify insurance coverage for secured lending transactions.
Business Development & Sales
- Build member relationships through proactive outreach, referrals, and follow-up activities.
- Promote and cross-sell credit union products and services, including deposit accounts, certificates, credit cards, IRAs, and lending solutions.
- Support membership growth initiatives and contribute to achieving branch and organizational goals.
- Generate new business opportunities through outbound calling, sponsor engagement, and community involvement.
- Meet established goals for loan production, deposit growth, product penetration, and member satisfaction.
Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with all applicable federal and state regulations, credit union policies, and operational procedures.
- Maintain confidentiality of member information and safeguard sensitive financial data.
- Adhere to security procedures and internal controls to minimize operational and fraud risk.
- Stay informed on regulatory updates, industry trends, and competitive offerings.
- Maintain quality and compliance standards while delivering efficient service.
Teamwork & Professional Development
- Collaborate with team members and management to achieve service, lending, and growth objectives.
- Participate in ongoing training and development programs to enhance knowledge and skills.
- Assist coworkers with complex member issues and contribute to a positive team environment.
- Complete special projects and other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Proven member service experience, ideally 3-5 years’ experience within a financial institution or similar setting.
- Strong knowledge of financial products and services, including but not limited to, deposits, IRAs, consumer loans, and real estate lending.
- Be proficient in job related technology applications including the Credit Union’s operating system and lending system.
- Hold Notary appointment
- Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS) registration is required and must be maintained.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with members and colleagues.
- A proactive, results-driven approach to identifying opportunities for member engagement and business growth.
- High level of integrity, professionalism, and commitment to providing excellent member service.
- Experience with or willingness to learn about core sponsor relationships and membership engagement strategies is a plus.
