About the Role

POSITION SUMMARY:

Fabricate eyewear in an efficient and timely manner. Provide quality products and services to centers. Perform key functions within the Coating Department efficiently, accurately and in detail. Ensure Optical Lab standards are followed, and service levels are maintained with the direction and guidance of the Production Manager - Coating

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

PRODUCTION OPERATIONS

• Operate sophisticated optical manufacturing equipment

• Work with specialized equipment and precision hand tools

• Fabricate, assemble, treat and handle lenses through different manufacturing processes

• Mount and secure lens blanks or optical lenses in holding tools or chucks of cutting, polishing, grinding or coating machines

• Control equipment that coats lenses to alter their reflective qualities

• Place coated lenses in ovens or dryers for specified times to dry or harden finishes

• Inspect lens blanks to detect flaws, verify smoothness of surface and ensure thickness of coating on lenses

• Clean finished lenses using cloths and solvents

• Perform functions to produce work that meets standards for quality and accuracy

• Maintain production output standards

• Partner with team to continuously improve processes


MAINTAIN SAFE WORK ENVIRONMENT

• Follow all company and lab policies and guidelines

• Adhere to safety guidelines and OSHA regulations

• Ensure machinery is operating effectively

• Ensure orders are fabricated only if a work ticket is provided

• Fabricate all orders in accordance with the ANSI and company standards

• Understand chemicals prior to use

• Follow Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDA) procedures

• Follow lock-out tag-out and Haz Com procedures

• Perform stretching before reporting to workstation


MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:

• High School Graduate or equivalent preferred

• Optical experience a plus, but not required

• Demonstrate ability to learn and perform production related functions

• Strong written and oral communication skills

• Interpersonal skills

• Self-motivated and detail oriented

• Ability to multi-task and prioritize

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & WORK REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to effectively communicate at all levels within the organization through written and two-way verbal communication

• Able to read and write at a high school level

• Able to sit or stand for extended periods of time

• Able to operate various office equipment and Optical Lab equipment

• Demonstrate physical agility (bending, climbing, twisting, squatting, lifting, pushing, reaching, etc.) on a repetitive basis

• Ability to lift an average of 25 pounds on a repetitive basis

• Ability to see (Near, Distance, Color, and Depth Perception)

• Manual and finger dexterity, as well as hand/arm steadiness

• Ability to grip and hold items

• Good eye and hand coordination

• Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment

• Ability to perform work in various departments within the lab based on business needs

• Able to work normal and/or extended (evenings, nights, and weekends) office hours to meet established deadlines

• Able to travel independently to support Company objectives and personal development
