Job Summary: The Sanitation 2 position involves working in wet, humid environments with extreme temperature changes and around large processing equipment using industrial sanitation chemicals. This role requires teamwork, adaptability, and the ability to follow supervisor instructions while adhering to safety guidelines. As a mid-level role, Sanitation 2 workers are proficient in 50–95% of SSOPs and specialize in cleaning fryers and cook kettles through chemical boil-outs and wash-downs. The position demands technical knowledge of chemical handling, titrations, pH testing, and basic equipment operation, including valve controls and LOTO procedures. Tasks include scrubbing surfaces, using automated cleaning equipment, and operating a forklift to move oil totes, often with minimal supervision.

Position Responsibilities:
- Clean and sanitize production equipment, processing systems, and production areas in accordance with company food safety and sanitation standards.
- Perform equipment washdowns, changeover cleaning, and deep-cleaning activities using approved chemicals, tools, and procedures.
- Complete required sanitation documentation, including sanitation logs, changeover records, oil management records, and Master Sanitation Schedule tasks.
- Safely handle sanitation chemicals, hot oil, and cleaning equipment while following all safety procedures and PPE requirements.
- Transfer and manage used cooking oil using approved equipment, including pallet jacks and forklifts when authorized.
- Verify equipment cleanliness and readiness prior to production startup.
- Remove waste, recyclables, and production debris to maintain a clean and organized facility.
- Respond to facility sanitation needs and support wastewater management activities as required.
- Follow Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), and all food safety requirements.
- Safely lift and move materials, hoses, equipment, and chemical containers weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Perform physical tasks including standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crouching, reaching, and lifting throughout the shift.
- Work collaboratively with Production, Quality, and Maintenance teams to maintain sanitation and food safety standards.
- Identify and report equipment, safety, or sanitation concerns to leadership.
- Support continuous improvement efforts that enhance food safety, product quality, and operational efficiency.

*Sundays are required due to wash downs

Requirements:
- Be able to read and follow written procedures
- Proven attention to detail, responsible, mature, self-motivated
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work around the regular shift schedule, shift-based on production needs, including weekends.
- Understand that weekends are the primary days for sanitation and must be available for washdowns.
- Forklift certification, primarily for moving oil totes, is a plus but not required.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to:
- Stand and walk for extended periods
- Walk on uneven ground and wet or slippery floors
- Twisting, turning, kneeling, stooping, and bending most of the day
- May be required to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Exposure to spices (allergens), including but not limited to soy and wheat
- Exposure to high noise levels and a high heat environment
PPE - Hair and beard net, chemical-resistant and anti-slippery rubber boots, safety glasses, face shield, earplugs, bump hard cap, chemical-resistant overalls and gloves with long sleeves, and apron.
