About the role
This role is for a highly motivated and innovative leader in the regional risk team responsible for the oversight and governance of operational risk management for Group IBGO. The successful candidate will proactively drive risk management best practices, actively foster a strong risk culture, and lead the leveraging of emerging technologies like Agents for enhanced risk management oversight, problem-solving, and operational efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Proactively identify, assess, closely monitor, and actively manage emerging risks for IBGO, focusing on key risk areas that impact IBGO such as Risk Events, Audit & Unit Self-identified issues, Residual Risks, UDMA, MJE reductions, contract renewals, fraud, and GLAO certification in forums.
- Strong oversight of regional Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) quality and documentation comprehensiveness, PURE Testing, and lead deep dives on RCSA enhancements.
- Prompt and active monitoring, assessment and preparation of risk metrics, agenda topics and forum materials for IBGO management. Ensure data accuracy, completeness, and timely addressing of IBGO actions.
- Actively represent IBGO at risk forums and explain risk initiatives to stakeholders.
- Champion innovation within operational risk management by proactively identifying opportunities to leverage advanced analytics, Generative AI, and Agents for proactive risk identification, assessment, and mitigation.
- Lead the exploration and implementation of Gen AI-powered agents to streamline problem-solving processes, enhance root cause analysis, and develop predictive risk models.
- Lead the review of incident management investigation including control lapses and root cause analysis. Highlight adverse trends for action and standardize best control practices across regional teams and locations.
- Drive risk agenda in IBGO Risk & Resiliency Forum, effectively communicate key risk initiatives and control topics to all location IBGO heads and risk managers.
- Promote staff awareness on risk & control, and provide targeted training where required.
- Lead risk dashboard and Ops Control Tower enhancements where required.
- Actively contribute to the thematic assessment, storyline, and development of training topics for quarterly IBGO Risk Awareness.
Requirements
- University degree with at least 8 - 10 years of experience working in financial institutions in a risk/control capacity.
- Strong interpersonal skills to actively collaborate with stakeholders at all levels in the organization.
- Able to proactively deal with and navigate ambiguous situations.
- Hands-on experience and a strong appreciation of operational risk management.
- Adequate understanding of the regulatory environment in banking.
- Ability to deep dive into details whilst maintaining a strategic big-picture view.
- Comprehensive knowledge of banking, policies, processes, controls, and systems.
- Excellent presentation skills, enabling effective communication of complex information.
- Proactive, self-starter, highly collaborative, with excellent organization and time management skills, and a positive can-do attitude.
