Position Summary
The Director of Technology & Strategic Initiatives is responsible for leading technology-driven operational initiatives across the organization, with a focus on property management systems, process improvement, software implementation, data management, and portfolio growth initiatives. This role serves as a strategic partner to executive leadership and acts as the bridge between Operations, Accounting, Asset Management, Compliance, Human Resources, Marketing, and Technology to ensure systems and processes support the organization's long-term objectives.
The Director of Technology & Strategic Initiatives will oversee property management technology platforms, lead company-wide projects, support acquisitions and transitions, improve operational processes, and identify technology solutions that enhance efficiency, reporting, and portfolio performance.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Business Initiatives
- Partner with executive leadership to support company growth, acquisitions, integrations, and operational scalability.
- Lead technology and operational improvement projects across the organization.
- Evaluate and implement technology solutions that support company goals and improve efficiency.
Property Management Systems & Technology Oversight
- Serve as the primary owner and subject matter expert for property management systems, including Yardi and related platforms.
- Oversee system implementations, upgrades, integrations, testing, training, and ongoing optimization efforts.
- Ensure data integrity, system performance, and consistency across all operational platforms.
Operational Excellence & Process Improvement
- Identify process improvements and technology solutions that increase efficiency and consistency across the organization.
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures, system documentation, and best practices.
- Lead change management initiatives and support the successful adoption of new systems and processes.
Acquisitions, Transitions & Portfolio Integrations
- Lead technology-related aspects of acquisitions, management transitions, mergers, and portfolio integrations.
- Coordinate system conversions, data migrations, onboarding activities, and implementation timelines.
- Ensure smooth operational cutovers while minimizing business disruption.
Reporting, Analytics & Business Intelligence
- Develop and enhance dashboards, KPI reporting tools, and operational analytics.
- Analyze operational and financial data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
- Support leadership reporting related to occupancy, leasing, collections, maintenance, compliance, and portfolio performance.
Technology Operations & Vendor Management
- Serve as the primary liaison between operational teams, software vendors, consultants, and third-party IT providers.
- Coordinate technology needs related to software, user access, infrastructure, and system security.
- Support cybersecurity, business continuity, and technology best practices across the organization.
Requirements
Qualifications
- Strong understanding of multifamily property management operations, accounting workflows, compliance requirements, and reporting structures.
- Extensive experience with Yardi and related property management technologies.
- Strong analytical, project management, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, Operations, Real Estate, or a related field preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in property management technology, multifamily operations, systems administration, strategic initiatives, or related leadership roles.
- Experience leading software implementations, operational transitions, acquisitions, or portfolio integrations preferred.
