Be the friendly face that helps welcome new employees to a meaningful career serving Maine’s veterans.


Maine Veterans’ Homes is seeking a personable, organized, and detail-oriented Human Resources Assistant to support our Bangor team. In this part-time role, you’ll help create a positive onboarding experience for new hires while supporting the daily operations of our Human Resources department.

Position Details

  • Part-Time – 30 hours per week 
  • Schedule may vary based on hiring and orientation needs 

What You’ll Do

  • Welcome and assist new hires through the onboarding process 
  • Coordinate and support new employee orientation sessions 
  • Ensure employment paperwork and HR documentation are completed accurately and on time 
  • Maintain organized and confidential employee records 
  • Provide administrative and clerical support to the HR department 
  • Assist with communication between applicants, employees, and hiring managers

  • Strong organizational and communication skills 
  • Ability to multitask and work independently in a fast-paced environment 
  • Professional, friendly, and customer-service-oriented approach 
  • Experience with administrative or HR-related work preferred 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and basic computer systems
