Job Description
Provide technical guidance to Certification Center to help achieve Quality Goals and Performance Standards. Manage aspects of the process to ensure:
o Trade Facilitation through timely, correct and/or consistent issuance, and provision of opinion as reported on the Certificates of Conformity following Conformity Assessment Instructions, TFS Business Rules and all other related references;
o Compliance to Company Policies, Rules and Regulations;
o Monitor results and take corrective actions.
· Provide PCA-related technical support as required by Management.
· Ensure compliance of the Certification Center processes to relevant standards e.g. ISO 17020, ISO 17065 etc.
· Assist in strategic planning by identifying goals for the section.
· Assume the roles of CC Technical Manager in their designated field per ISO/IEC 17020 and/or ISO/IEC 17065 standards. This role is equivalent of CC Technical Support Manager in the global job description.
· Act as a certification reviewer on EAC Ready certification scheme
· Defining risk assessment for the product group under its expertise, applying a flexibility approach to complex cases within the bounds of good conformity assessment practices.
· Taking decision on final actions for escalated cases.
Qualifications
Educational / Professional qualifications & Experience
· At least a bachelor’s degree in Engineering or other University technical degree.
· Preferably with master’s degree in Business Administration / Management, Public Administration, Engineering Management, or its equivalent.
· At least three years experience in the industry or in any of the following fields:
o Technical regulations (WTO-TBT rules)
o Standardization
o Quality Assurance
o Laboratory Testing
o Inspection
o Conformity Assessment (certification/accreditation)
o Management Systems Auditing (QMS,EMS, etc.)
· Minimum 5 years experience in conformity assessment work
· Competent knowledge of all aspects of trade, export procedures, technical regulations and documentation.
· Good understanding of the requirements of ISO 17020 and ISO 17065 standards
· Management experience in the areas of Production Process Assembly and/or Trade Data Assembly is an advantage.
· Complete understanding and expertise in product certification or conformity assessment process, essential product specifications, and applicable standards
· Above average communication skills and ability to interact with all levels of people in the SGS network.
· Sound training skills (including training needs analysis, training material development and training dlivery)
Additional Information
Experience / Technical knowledge
· Experience in SGS TFS services, an advantage
· Computer literate (familiar with MS Window applications)
· Decisive, Assertive and Results Oriented
· Product Technical expertise and/or Language Skills expertise an advantage
· Familiar with International Trade Practices
· Excellent Presentation Skills
· Can work on Weekends and on rotation shift basis (Morning, Mid or Night Shift), as necessary
· Trade experience in import or export or customs brokerage and/or banking procedures an advantage.
