About the Role
Description
Job Title: Distribution Tech; M-F, 8am-3pm, every 4th Sat (4hrs.)
Supervised by: Purchasing Manager/Supply Chain Manager
Job Summary:
Responsible for distribution and storage of materials delivered to the Materials Management Department. Responsible for the PAR Level System throughout the Facility.
Demonstrates Competency in the Following Areas:
- Delivers supplies and equipment to the user departments in an efficient and timely manner.
- Receives all materials delivered to the facility by various vendors.
- Receives and fills all supply requisitions, from departments, that are not replenished by the PAR System.
- Interfaces directly with staff members of the user departments to determine the need for additions or deletions to the PAR Level Replenishment System for their department.
- Collects patient supply charges for processing.
- Maintains all areas of materials storage in a neat and organized manner. All supplies are taken out of the original shipping box for storage.
- Restocks utilizing proper rotation, organization, identification, documentation and proper location of stock items.
- Properly handles and stores sterile items to maintain sterility.
- Maintains all equipment utilized in transporting supplies in a manner that ensures reliable and safe operation.
- Notifies the Purchasing Manager when supplies or special orders are needed.
- Requires minimal supervision in performance of job duties.
- Understands how to prioritize responsibilities to ensure completion of duties.
- Is a self-starter; initiates the meeting of responsibilities without prompting.
- Maintains a good working relationship both within the department and with other departments.
- Communicates clearly and appropriately to the Purchasing Manager and co-workers.
- Accepts other duties as requested.
- Supports and maintains a culture of safety and quality.
Professional Requirements:
- Meets dress code standards; appearance is neat and clean.
- Completes annual educational requirements.
- Maintain regulatory requirements.
- Maintains patient confidentiality at all times.
- Reports to work on time and as scheduled; completes work within designated time.
- Wears identification while on duty; uses computerized punch time system correctly.
- Completes in-services and returns in a timely fashion.
- Attends annual review and department in-services, as scheduled.
- Attends 12 staff meetings annually; or reads and returns all monthly staff meeting minutes.
- Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner.
- Actively participates in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement (CQI) activities.
- Complies with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices.
- Communicates the mission, ethics and goals of the facility, as well as the focus statement of the department.
Requirements
Regulatory Requirements:
- High School graduate or equivalent.
Language Skills:
- Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Additional languages preferred.
Skills:
- Basic computer knowledge.
Physical Demands:
- Normal hospital environment. Close eye work. Hearing of normal and soft tones. Operates manual and motorized pallet jacks, computer. Lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds. Pushing/pulling up to 250 pounds. Frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, and stooping.
