About The Company
UGL Regional Linx was established in 2021, after parent company, UGL Limited was selected to deliver operations and maintenance of rail infrastructure for the Country Regional Network (CRN). This network ensures the safe movement of people and goods throughout the regions of NSW, and links Sydney with many important regional centres. UGL Regional Linx commenced operations on January 30 2022 and works on behalf of the client, Transport for NSW (TfNSW) and will be responsible for managing an important network of assets. As part of its operation, UGL Regional Linx’s scope of work includes: • Network operations • Rail infrastructure maintenance and implementation of a new train control system - UGL’s proprietary system, Sigview. • Asset and property management, and • Safety, access, performance, and environmental management. UGL Regional Linx has made a strong commitment to local and indigenous employment, further strengthening the organisation’s commitment to regional NSW. As part of its operations, UGL Regional Linx established its head office and Network Control Centre in the heart of the Central West, Orange, NSW. The CRN network includes: • 2,386 route kilometres of operational passenger and freight rail lines, including 996 km of branch line track used predominantly for haulage of grain, with lower mass and speed limits than other parts of the network • 3,139 route kilometres of non-operational lines • 27,000 hectares of land and infrastructure • 1,312 level crossings (300 active) • 1,200 property assets (including 356 heritage sites) • 600 rail under bridges and 384 road overbridges The CRN is a crucial piece of infrastructure to regional NSW and UGL Regional Linx is committed to ensure that it delivers for all customers, from rail passengers to farmers and industry.
About the Role

HSE Manager - BESS Project

South Australia - Bundey (Northeast of Adelaide)

UGL is a leader in Australia’s energy transition, delivering largescale solar and battery projects endtoend, with 13 utilityscale solar farms successfully delivered nationwide.

We’re looking for an experienced HSE Manager to join our Energy & Industrial business on a full-time, permanent basis. Your first project with us will be the Goyder BESS Stage 1 project in South Australia, where you’ll play a key role from early works through to project completion.

UGL has been selected as the EPC contractor for the Goyder BESS Stage 1 project at Bundey, northeast of Adelaide. The scope includes 188 Tesla Megapacks, a 275/33kV substation and a 500m 275kV overhead transmission line connecting to the Bundey Substation.

About the role

The HSE Manager will provide leadership, guidance and strategic direction across all health, safety and environment activities on the Goyder BESS Stage 1 project.

Reporting to the Project Manager, you will be a trusted advisor and key member of the project leadership team, responsible for driving a strong safety culture and ensuring compliance with UGL’s HSE Management System, legislative requirements and client expectations.

The role is hands on and site based, combining field presence with governance, coaching and stakeholder engagement.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead the implementation and continuous improvement of UGL’s HSE management systems.

  • Drive a strong safety culture across project teams, subcontractors and stakeholders.

  • Provide expert guidance on legislation, standards, risk management and compliance.

  • Oversee incident reporting, investigations, audits, HSSE documentation and reporting.

  • Lead and deliver HSSE improvement initiatives, KPIs and mentor sitebased HSE teams.

About you

  • Similar experience as an HSE Manager, preferably within the construction of renewable energy, BESS or major infrastructure projects.

  • Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, or similar.

  • Sound knowledge of WHS, environmental and workers compensation legislation, and its application on construction sites.

  • Demonstrated experience implementing and maintaining HSE management systems.

  • Proven ability to lead investigations, audits and build strong relationships, influencing outcomes and leading by example on site.
