Director of Revenue Management - 100,000 to $115,000/year

POSITION OBJECTIVE |
As part of the Aspen Meadows family, you’ll be responsible for the development and execution of holistic revenue strategies aimed at achieving optimal top-line revenue, margin expansion and market share growth. Collaborating cross-functionally, you will provide leadership support in the areas of pricing, distribution strategy, yield management and reservation sales, enabling a culture of total asset management amongst the broader revenue generation team. The incumbent will work diligently to identify statistically relevant trends, leveraging a combination of in-house intelligence and market resources to inform strategies/tactics with an eye toward future outcomes. As a strategic thought leader, collaborator and executor, you’re undeterred by the notion of “rolling up your sleeves” to get things done.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS |
- Pricing Strategy – You will guide the development of pricing strategies that align with owner/brand objectives, market conditions, competitive analysis and customer demand. This involves determining optimal pricing levels for various room/unit types, products, packages and promotions to maximize revenue and profitability.
- Distribution Management – You will oversee the distribution ecosystem for hotel bookings, including all direct and indirect channels to include property vanity sites, online travel agencies (OTAs), global distribution systems (GDS), among many others. You will ensure effective management of rates, availability and inventory as principle means of attracting new customers and driving revenue.
- Sales & Marketing Enablement – As a frequent collaborator with the sales and marketing disciplines, you will develop and execute strategies to drive sales and enhance the hotel’s brand image. This involves identifying target markets, creating promotional campaigns and leveraging direct sales channels/resources to increase revenue.
- Performance Analysis – You will lead all performance analytics for assigned asset(s), monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs) such as revenue per available room (RevPAR), average daily rate (ADR), occupancy, market share, along with other profit-focused measures. You will analyze data, identify trends and provide insights/recommendations to optimize revenue generation.
- Budgeting & Financial Planning – Working closely with property and Salamander home office stakeholders, you will help lead annual budgeting and periodic forecasting processes, providing revenue projections with Finance and Sales & Marketing. You will monitor financial performance while identifying opportunities to ensure revenue targets are met or exceeded.
- People Management – You will train and support hotel teams to fully utilize all available tools and systems to maximize revenue and positively affect business outcomes.
- Team Leadership – You will provide leadership guidance, mentorship and support to direct reports, reservation sales and other functional disciplines, ensuring alignment with revenue and overall business objectives. You will foster a high-performance culture while promoting collaboration and teamwork.
- Industry Knowledge – Staying current with industry trends, emerging technologies and industry best practices is critical for this role. You will attend relevant conferences, tradeshows and trainings when opportune, also engaged in regular networking with industry peers and business partners to stay informed of market shifts, local trends, etc.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work collaboratively with the property revenue generation team to analyze report metrics and implement an effective revenue strategy
- Creation and execution of a demand-based pricing strategy by room accommodation for both hotel and residential room products.
- Utilize transient KPI reports to identify booking trends.
- Deep understanding of the hotel's defined competitive set as well as the resort(s) positioning within those respective sets.
- Work with a digital marketing team to develop an on-going marketing plan aimed at both long-term positioning as well as short-term need generation tactics.
- Conduct weekly strategy and one-on-one meetings to collaborate, influence decisions, and execute plans.
- Implement an effective distribution strategy which leverages less costly channels to drive profitability; this includes alternative residential distribution channels to expand reach and awareness of the product.
- Create day-by-day forecasts as needed.
- Work directly with the revenue generation team and key stakeholders to ensure ancillary revenue objectives are met.
- Ability to effectively communicate challenges that arise in either property performance or processes and develop a plan to correct.
- Be able to influence change and demonstrate a sense of accountability and level of comfort during all interactions with key stakeholders on property, regional and home office, as well as ownership groups.
- Create and execute an electronic distribution merchandising strategy for effective pricing, content, positioning, relationships, and marketing programs.
- Monitor all electronic distribution sites on a consistent basis to ensure all leisure rates and room categories are loaded and bookable.
- Leverage RMS system to identify booking trends outside typical booking window and make necessary corrections.
- Produce daily, weekly, monthly reporting suite (pace, segmentation, channel, etc.) to make pricing decisions.
- Implement group and wholesale block management programs to ensure contracted rooms are being maintained, forecasted, and yielded appropriately, and the blocks are being released in a timely manner.
- Perform other duties as directed, developed or assigned.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE |
- Minimum of 5+ years in revenue management, distribution and eCommerce – preferably in a multi-property capacity
- Driven, innovative and strong team player. Possesses a curious mind, is a strong multi-tasker who finds opportunities where others find problems. Can do attitude, willing to roll-up their sleeves to get work done and inspires others with their vison and acumen
- Significant experience with industry-leading technology, to include PMS, RMS, CRS and BI solutions (e.g., Opera Cloud, Springer Miller Host, SynXis, IDeaS G3, Otelier/Datavision, Resort Suite, Book4Time, etc.)
- Advanced Microsoft Excel and Power BI proficiency
REQUIREMENTS |
This position requires on-site presence at least four days per week with additional on-site work sometimes necessary

- Must be able to sit at a desk for up to 8 hours per day. Walking and standing may be required. Length of time of these tasks may vary from day to day and task to task.
- Must be able to exert well-paced ability to maneuver between functions occurring simultaneously.
- Must be able to exert well-paced ability to reach other departments of the hotel on a timely basis.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 lbs. on a regular and continuing basis.
- Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity.
- Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors and subordinates.
- Vision occurs continuously with the most common visual functions being those of near vision and depth perception.
WORK ENVIRONMENT |
Most work tasks are performed indoors. Temperature is moderate and controlled by hotel environmental systems.
