About the Role

Description

About RFgen

RFgen is a product-led software company with more than 30 years in the supply chain space, helping global enterprises run mission-critical, mobile, ERP-integrated operations. Our software moves real inventory every day for customers across Manufacturing, Aerospace & Defense, Oil & Gas, Construction, and Food & Beverage — environments where quality isn’t a nice-to-have. When our software works, shipments go out the door, plants keep running, and supply chains stay intact. We’re a focused, engineering-driven company headquartered in El Dorado Hills, CA, with a global team that spans the US and includes our development and quality assurance center in Hyderabad, India. Our Professional Services organization tailors, configures, and deploys these solutions into each customer’s unique environment.

The Role

We’re looking for a Senior QA Engineer to join our Professional Services team as the quality anchor at our El Dorado Hills headquarters and a key voice on our global QA team. This role lives within Professional Services and owns quality across our customer deployment projects — the customized builds, configurations, and ERP integrations we deliver to each customer, not just the base platform. This is not a ticket-closing seat. You’ll own test strategy and execution across these engagements, and you’ll have a genuine mandate to rethink how we test by putting modern AI tools to work.

Sitting at HQ within Professional Services — alongside our solution architects, project teams, and product engineering, while collaborating daily with QA and development colleagues in India — gives you unusual visibility and influence for a role at this level. You’ll be the on-site quality presence where customer deployment decisions get made. If you’ve wanted a place where senior QA judgment is actually valued, and where you can help define what “AI-driven QA” means in practice rather than in slideware, this is that seat.

 What You’ll Do

  • Own test planning and execution — design test plans, cases, and scenarios for customer deployment projects, mapped to each customer’s functional and business requirements.
  • Validate customized solutions — test the tailored builds, configurations, and ERP/system integrations we deliver, making sure each customer’s solution works in their environment before it goes live.
  • Participate in the AI charge in QA — adopt AI-driven practices, tools, and automation strategies, and actively hunt for new places where AI can meaningfully raise coverage, speed, and quality. You’ll set the bar here, not follow it.
  • Test broadly and deeply — functional, regression, exploratory, and backend/system-level testing across customer-configured solutions and integrations.
  • Drive defects to resolution — identify, document, track, retest, and validate fixes end to end across active projects.
  • Own go-live readiness — monitor coverage, progress, and risk across deployments, and deliver clear, structured status so project and customer stakeholders always know where quality stands.
  • Partner across the org — work with Solution Architects, Engineering, Product, and Support to clarify requirements, sharpen usability, and lead root cause analysis.
  • Set the standard — maintain QA documentation, test artifacts, and quality standards the rest of the team can build on, project after project.

Requirements

What We’re Looking For

Required

  • 5+ years in software testing and quality assurance, with a track record of operating independently.
  • Strong hands-on manual testing experience, including black-box and functional techniques.
  • Demonstrated use of AI tools (e.g., Claude, ChatGPT) to improve real QA work — and an instinct for finding the next opportunity.
  • Proven experience in test planning and structured test case design.
  • Sound judgment on risk, prioritization, and juggling multiple parallel assignments.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, including structured reporting to stakeholders.
  • Comfort working as part of a globally distributed team, including some early-morning overlap with colleagues in India.
  • Basic SQL for database validation and backend testing.
  • Working understanding of programming concepts and the SDLC.

Preferred

  • Experience testing customer implementations, configured/customized software, or system integration projects.
  • Exposure to ERP, Warehouse, or Inventory Management systems.
  • API testing experience (REST, Postman, or similar).
  • Familiarity with AI-driven testing tools, automation frameworks, or data analysis techniques.
  • Experience with Jira for defect tracking and workflow management.
  • Experience with test management tools (e.g., Zephyr or equivalent).
  • An innovative mindset toward adopting AI in everyday QA.

Why You’ll Want This Role

  • Real ownership. You define test strategy and quality standards across live customer projects, not just execute someone else’s.
  • A front-row seat to AI in QA. A clear mandate and the room to build something, while it still matters who gets there first.
  • Visibility. You’re the quality voice at HQ, working directly with the solution architects and project teams shaping each customer deployment.
  • Work that ships and matters. Real implementations going live in demanding industries where getting it wrong isn’t an option.

Location & Eligibility

This role is full-time and in-person at our El Dorado Hills, CA headquarters (Greater Sacramento). Candidates must be locally based or willing to relocate.

Because RFgen serves U.S. defense contractor customers, this position is subject to U.S. export-control requirements (including ITAR). U.S. citizenship is required.
