About the Role
Description
Purpose: A new, state-of-the-art small animal practice and full-service boarding facility is seeking a part-time Kennel Technician to join our team. This position will provide day-to-day care and maintenance of the boarding facility.
Key Responsibilities
- Customer Service: Assist customers and communicate regularly in a professional, friendly manner.
- Scheduling: Schedule boarders, including managing intake and discharge procedures.
- Animal Care: Care for animals, including feeding, watering, and cleaning of eliminations.
- Medical Alert: Alert medical staff of any medical concerns regarding boarders.
- Enrichment: Responsible for boarder enrichment activities.
- Medication: Administer medications as directed.
- Maintenance: Keep the boarding facility clean and organized.
- Marketing: Assist in marketing of the boarding facility.
- Other Duties: Perform other duties as needed assigned by management.
- Availability: Weekend animal care is required.
Qualifications
- Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Positive attitude and friendly disposition.
- Organizational skills.
- Experience in animal handling and proper care of animals preferred.
- Previous experience in a boarding or kennel setting is preferred.
- Must be available to work weekends and holidays.
- Must be able to work effectively with others in a team environment but also be a highly self-motivated individual.
Physical Demands
- Must be able to walk and stand for long periods, potentially the entire shift.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Must be comfortable working with large dogs, including walking them.
