About the Job:
The Assay Lab Tech is responsible for the performance of the following duties in a safe and productive manner.
Responsibilities:
- Gathers samples from pit and crusher areas and transports samples to the laboratory
- Dries and split ore samples
- Run and maintain manual and auto pulverizer
- Run and maintain lab crusher and deck screen
- Weighs, completes size analysis, and moisture content analysis of samples
- Assists with Sampler duties as needed, responsible for keeping sample numbers in order and prioritizing workload
- Understand and follow procedure for handling chemicals and Safety Data Sheet’s
- Follow safety procedures such as: Pit flagging, Emergency fire, lockout/tag-out, Mayday and Bad weather procedures
- Communicate with other departments daily
- Any other tasks as assigned
Required Qualifications & Skills:
Physical Requirements
- Work in all conditions and environments, approximately 90% of job is indoors
- Able to lift 35 lbs. on an occasional basis.
- Able to walk up and down slopes and uneven ground
- Able to bend and stoop multiple times a day
Workplace Requirements
- Follow all procedures and safety measures to assure safe production
- Work as a team member and communicate openly with others
- Be detailed-oriented, self-directed and able to take leadership role on many projects
- Willing to stop work for safety concerns and always abide by safety best practices, policies and procedures
- Respirator use is required
- 5-5-4 Schedule
Preferred Experience/Education
- 0-2+ years of assay laboratory experience
- 2 years of related education experience
- Operation of Forklift experience
Certifications and Experience Required:
- Valid vehicle driver’s license
Additional Information: Willing to work alternating between 5 work days, 5 days off, 4 work days, and 5 more days off.
