Western National is seeking a Workers’ Compensation Claims Specialist to join our team! The individual in this role will have the opportunity to investigate, evaluate, negotiate, and resolve complex and large-exposure Workers’ Compensation insurance claims while serving as a technical consultant and subject matter expert for business partners and fellow claims professionals.
What are the responsibilities and opportunities of this role?
- Investigates, evaluates, negotiates, and resolves Workers’ Compensation claims as assigned.
- Handles complex and large-exposure Workers’ Compensation claims.
- Ensures customer service excellence.
- Reviews coverage, investigates facts, and evaluates claim-related materials to make appropriate decisions regarding compensability, exposure, and claim resolution.
- Establishes and reviews appropriate reserves for each claim based on thorough investigation, evaluation, and jurisdictional expertise.
- Maintains accurate reports and documentation to ensure claim status is clearly documented at all times.
- Provides direction to outside resources.
- Serves as a technical consultant and subject matter expert to business partners and other claims representatives.
- Makes decisions guided by general instructions and practices requiring interpretation.
- Makes decisions automatically on routine issues.
- Recognizes problems or situations that are new or without clear precedent.
- Finds solutions using a systematic, multi-step approach.
- Develops improvements and innovations that enhance performance and claim outcomes.
- Maintains regular contact with customers, including policyholders, claimants, and agents, as well as employees across the organization.
- Maintains regular contact with outside vendors.
- Occasional travel for client visits, education or training activities as required.
- Performs special projects and other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Compensation overview
The targeted hiring range for this role is $74,200-111,300, annually. However, the base pay offered may vary depending on the job-related knowledge, skills, credentials, and experience of each candidate, as well as other factors such as the scope and location of the role. Candidates looking for compensation outside of the posted range are encouraged to apply and will be considered based on their individual qualifications and / or may be considered for other positions.
