Jewish Federation of Palm Beach County is a 501(c)3 nonprofit that mobilizes the community to care for those in need, activate Jewish life, safeguard the people of Israel, and combat antisemitism and hatred locally and in more than 70 countries worldwide. Each year, Federation engages thousands of donors and volunteers to generate tens of millions of dollars in philanthropic support, sustaining a network that delivers critical services, builds community, and responds to urgent challenges. Staff play a direct role in advancing this work across the Palm Beaches and beyond.


Position Summary:

The Director of Leadership Giving serves as a key member of the Development team, responsible for cultivating and soliciting donors and prospects capable of giving $25,000+ annually. The Director manages the strategy and execution of Federation’s two premier donor recognition programs, with a strong focus on excellence, accountability, and service. The Director works closely with high net-worth households and lay leaders to drive increased Annual Campaign results and advance other fundraising priorities, including multi-year, endowment, targeted and legacy giving, among Federation’s Leadership donors. 


Reporting to the Vice President, Philanthropy Strategy & Operations, the Director of Leadership Giving, manages Leadership Giving Officer(s) and collaborates closely with colleagues across the organization. 


Key Responsibilities

Leadership Giving Strategy and Donor Recognition Program Management: Percentage of Time: 30%

  • Develop and execute strategies to secure Leadership Gifts of $25,000+ in support of Annual Campaign fundraising goals.
  • Partner with lay leaders, senior staff and colleagues to advance high-net worth donors and prospects through prospect pipeline and close leadership-level Annual Campaign gifts.
  • Provide strategic oversight for two high-level donor recognition societies.
  • Oversee all aspects of donor recognition society program planning and execution, including strategy, communications, volunteer recruitment, events, and stewardship.
  • Serve as the primary staff partner to volunteer leadership and committees.
  • Collaborate across departments to ensure alignment with organizational priorities.

Gift Cultivation and Solicitation: Percentage of Time: 40%

  • Manage a tailored fundraising portfolio of approximately 150 households with the intention of cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding annual gifts in the $25,000+ range. 
  • Pursue a robust set of frontline fundraising activities including prospect and donor visits, solicitations, and successful gift closures. 
  • Deepen relationships and attain an in-depth understanding of donors’ and prospects' philanthropic inclinations, capacity, and motivations through approximately 100 personal and virtual meetings annually.
  • Work closely with colleagues across Development, Marketing, Finance, and programs to deliver integrated donor strategies.

Team Management, Strategic Collaboration and Organizational Leadership: Percentage of Time: 30%

  • Manage Leadership Giving Officer(s) as assigned.
  • Contribute to campaign planning, goal setting, and overall fundraising strategy.
  • Serve as a thought partner to senior leadership on opportunities for growth and innovation.
  • Partner with local agencies and stakeholders to understand priorities and opportunities to engage donors and prospects.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and support all fundraising initiatives and JFPBC events.
  • Foster a culture of high performance, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Model a donor-centered, mission-driven approach to fundraising.
  • Ensures continuity of operations across assigned functional areas and, during periods of staff transition, vacancy, onboarding, or training, assumes direct oversight of critical functions as needed.

    Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree required 
  • 5+ years of nonprofit fundraising (or related) experience, with a demonstrated record of securing significant gifts.
  • Experience engaging high-capacity donors and volunteer leadership.
  • Proven ability to plan and execute high-level donor events and experiences.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with diverse stakeholders. 
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with business technology and fundraising databases (CRM).
  • Passion for the Jewish community, Israel and familiarity with Jewish calendar and lifecycle

Pay Rate:

We benchmark our salary ranges for new hires in relation to the role, level, and role location; however, we consider a multitude of factors, to include relevant experience, skills, and education/training, to determine compensation within the identified range.
