About the Role

JOB TITLE:  Loan Support Specialist

DEPARTMENT:  Loans

REPORTS TO:  Loan Support Manager, Collections Manager, VP Loans

STATUS:  Non-Exempt

SUPERVISES:  None

PRIMARY PURPOSE

This position provides comprehensive operational support to the Loan Servicing, Loan Underwriting, and Collections departments. The role ensures the integrity of loan documentation, compliance with regulatory requirements, and the ongoing effectiveness of lending operations across the credit union’s loan portfolio.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS

1.    Perform and supports core operational functions within the Loan Underwriting, Loan Servicing, and Collections’ departments.

2.    Ensure accurate and complete loan records, including system data, documentation, files, and servicing activities, in accordance with federal and state regulations, investor/insurer guidelines, and Credit Union policies and procedures.

3.    Perform quality control reviews of loan files and servicing activities to ensure compliance, accuracy, and consistency.

4.    Supports the Collection department with all required functions including making outbound collections calls.

5.    Performs and ensure core consumer and real estate loan underwritten according to the credit union’s guidelines.

6.    Participate in and support credit union projects related to loan operations, system enhancements, regulatory changes, and process improvements.

7.    Assist with implementation of new workflows, system updates, and procedural changes.

OTHER DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS

2.      Periodically serves on various credit union committees (i.e. Safety, Social Events, etc.)

3.      Performs such other duties and responsibilities as may be prescribed by the VP Loans and President/CEO.

    • in connection with this position;

5.     Ensures a secure, neat, clean and safe work area.

2.    Work Hours:

  • Hours are to be determined depending on numerous factors, including but not limited to:   * Volume of Work 
  • Monday - Friday, 7:45 AM to 5:30 PM
  • Saturday, 8:45 AM – 2:30 PM
  • Over time may be required.
  • Work days or hours may vary according to the operational needs of the credit union

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

1.    Requires sitting at a work station for periods of up to 4 hours (without a break).

2.    Requires the ability to understand and complete instructions.

3.    Requires data entry/key punching and mouse skills to complete daily work.

4.    Ability to view and correctly interpret numbers, text and images on a computer screen.

5.    Requires the use of various office equipment to perform duties.

6.    Requires verifying documents for accuracy.

7.    Requires working beyond the 8-hour day periodically.

8.    Requires lifting and carrying up to 40 pounds.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

1.    Skills/Knowledge:

  • Ability to learn and apply learned skills.
  • Ability to work with all types of people.
  • Ability to use a computer key board.
  • Knowledge of basic math skills.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with members, co-workers and management.
  • Must be bondable.
  • Ability to perform administrative duties required by Supervisory Personnel.

2.    Education/Training:

  • GED/High school diploma required.

3.    Experience:

  • Two years of experience in the field of consumer credit preferred.

4.    Training:

  • Must be willing to attend/participate in any training necessary to learn/update skills or knowledge required for the position.
